Tbh you need a very good reason to be given a 8-billion-dollar island, not just crashing onto it.

It would also be nice to organize several information meetups about the lifestyle of your participants.
But no email, no transparency. ugh

I agree with Wameyn. The message of Avatar is that we should try to change on an individual basis, and do the best we can, would it be cool to be able to like like the Na'vi, you bet, sadly in this world and life, I know I'm never going to get there( Im near sighted, and dont have many nature skills) but I can do things like not pick up the package that has palm oil as the ingredients, make sure lights that Im not using are off, and try to work out before going to work, to be more fit and healthy. I can also realize that life is more than accumulated paper scraps and try to live accordingly and be nice to others.
IMHO this sounded dangerous at best when I read about it, and while the political choices in the US this year, make running off to an island and living off the grid a nice thing to think about, I know that I have to deal with a more grounded approach.

You'll also need to find a solution to the hygiene, since Na'vi don't have toilets with a flush.
We could say lots of things about it.

You'll also need a team made of nobody else than your participants, who will set up all the society with you. Also, abolish the rule of non-return when you'll have the control. Otherwise, yes you hide things and yes it can be a cult.

Lots of questions have to be answered, hence the importance of information meetings.

The secrecy thing adds even more doubt to your theory. Why make a project when people will not know where they're going into? Does the non-return rule mean that there is information everybody else shouldn't know?
