i think he needs to do more discussion with the members, sounds like hes treating the website as some kind of chore - cutting costs etc. he doesnt really seem interested in the sentimental value of the forum

That makes sense.
He could name (not hire) a volunteer admin like we do on Learn Na'vi. He would sleep more peacefully.

Part of the problem was that it was a financial drain on him, he was puzzled about why the site was getting so much traffic but so little ad revenue. I remembered having a look at the site traffic counter and most of it was being logged as bots and site scrappers so it looked like there were many more people looking at the site than there really was.

lolz this seems like a recurring theme with him, ironic coming from a dude who runs a ton of internet sites and has no shortage of funds. i just cannot abide by the fact that the last six years of AF was all for the pursuit of paper scraps, at least for him. a lot of us contributed to the community, when we could, but our motives were strictly social and loyal to a film experience and its core values and way of life...not pieces of eventually useless paper that have no meaning once you have to return your borrowed energy to the universe. i am still sad over the demise of AF. very sad only.

I think he's the owner and administrator of AF.
His face is even here: Authors | Avatar Forums

Here is just my 2 cents...

The new site looks quite modern, but the rather massive change of software and style scared me somehow although I have never registered an account there and prefered to lurk only.
I don't know the site owner's plan or intention but looking at the site confirmes me that I have chosen the right way of upgrading the forum of LearnNa'vi.org last year: intensive and careful preparation plus communication with the community.

Anyway, I wish Lon luck with his project.

You know what, I think Avatar-Blogs was redesigned to be more mobile-friendly. Y'know, the 2010s trends...

my phone is an old 2010 android 2.5 legend from wal-mart lol. it has traveled to 41 states, dropped in a pool, three batteries, walked damn near 24 miles on the Appalachian Trail with me, seen the stupendous Grand Canyon, etc etc etc, but never once i have thought to hang out on my still-favorite and sadly departed website, the former AF, on a tiny piece of 3-inch glass and plastic. why the blue blazes would i squint my getting older eyes at a hunk of junk in my hand, when i have such a big pc display at home, my 42 inch formerly the movies/games screen now pc monitor, and no distractions at home like a dumbass job and even dumber boss. i will never understand people who are glued to their phones all day like an apple/micro$haft puppet. *smh*

lon ruined my internet home. all for sake of paper scraps and cell-junkies. grrrrr

"mobile-friendly" is not the correct word here, I think, it should be "responsive" that means that a website can automatically fit in any screen resolution without loosing its usability. It is not a thing made for mobile phones only, it includes other devices such as tablets, small laptops and big screens as well.
