If they had years' notice, I wouldn't be surprised if Hell's Gate had the resources to grow her another one.

And something would have to be different in terms of the spiritual or neural world which suddenly allows even to pull someone back from the realms of Eywa, which certainly has to be even more powerful than transferring a sould to another body.
Why?

BTW - was there a discussion somewhere yet as to why the NA'Vi do have such a ritual at all? After all Grace probably is the first time there would be the need for such a ritual to be performed.
AFAIK, there is no explanation for how the Na'vi know its possible to do that in the first place.

I would doubt that they have the facilities there in the outpost. There is probably a good reason they do this on Earth and ship those whole large bodies across space. Also the number of people in Hells Gate has to be small now - just a few scientists and avatar drivers. IIRC the bodies also take something like over 6 years to grow to the proper size?

Also in movies nothing happens with a years notice

If it did not work even though they tried with all their power the first time when the goal was to move the soul from one body to another, why should just trying it again be successful? If she could be brought back from the dead by such a ritual, why did it not work the first time - the settings will have to be different. Maybe a different ritual, some event that facilitates this or whatever.

Though I honestly doubt that it will be that lame - JC knows better than to just let the NA'Vi do another ritual which then works and brings Grace back. I am sure it will be something special, unique and once-in-a-lifetime, like someone riding Toruk. Something that will go to legend

Yeah - I thought so. Would be a nice thing to get to know this in a sequel or prequel.

Okay, so I guess the sequel would have to take place many years later in order for that to work, but good point. It does seem like a lot of work for the slight possibility of bringing her back, something we have no reason to believe has been done before.

About the ceremony, it could have been set up the same as other ceremonies. The body transfer thing could have been the only new part about it, and just an attempt that might not have had any chance of working.

It's always possible to come up with the idea for the body-transfer on the spot. After all, Jake didn't know if it would work.

We will not be certain about anything until Cameron starts filming.

A lot of people are saying that the Na'vi woman in the video is actually an anamatronic puppet and not CGI, but I don't know. It's part of the theme park at Disney.

If that's so then they REALLY should think about getting into the artificial girlfriend making market. lol

On a more serious note I must say that judging the decline of my health and the recent intensification of my symptoms I sincerely doubt I'll see anymore AVATAR films. At least I got to see the one.

she definitely has the unehanced-by-film aspects of an animatronic puppet, to me. can we please get some news and progress on the prequel/sequels? sadly i'm not getting any younger as the years go by....

*sighs and heads for the liquor cabinet*

At a guess I'd say its using the facial capture software used in Avatar and a lot of CGI movies and mapping it onto the animatronic. This is actually kind of a new idea since it means that the result is more lifelike but also means its easier to reprogramme them to say/do new things. This would be kind of interesting as it allows the ride to change over time without expensive refurbishing.
