Default So what the dickens has changed in my absence?

Spill the beans!

I remember fondly the pleasant times I had here on Tree-of-Souls, and wondered if it was worth returning? If not then no matter, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

This place certainly seems a lot quieter than I remember, although I suppose that is to be expected after all this time. Does the forum still enjoy new threads and posts on occasion, enough to warrant becoming active again? Do you still get new members? Are there any old faces here and if so, how are you? I have logged on to IRC a few times since the start of the year but have not been in any way present on the forum.

As for me, my life has completely changed over this last year - new job, new friends, new foes and all the changes of character that come with growing up and being subjected to cold hard reality.

Anyway, I should shut up before I start to ramble, or ramble even more.

The Silver Stag

I wouldn't say we get that many trolls

...spammers on the other hand, yes, one could say that! At this point it's probably not worth figuring out measures to keep them out but rather wait for the new ToS redesign and take measures then.

We definitely get new threads and posts on occasion, but threads and posts on the thing that inspired this forum into existence? Not so much, until sequel production really starts rolling methinks. Been saying that for a while now.

My username was registered six years ago, I guess that makes me old. I don't post every day and I've never been one to go on IRC but I don't foresee ever leaving this place, regardless of anything. I'd say it's worth staying, though I just like to see other oldsters come back when they do.

Hi Stag, the more active members we have the better and more diverse the content will be. We have many members taking the passive sit back and wait for the sequels approach, but why wait? There are endless conversations that can be had and they don't necessarily have to pertain to AVATAR. Please, feel free to come back and join in or start new topics.

Interesting. Many thanks for the replies folks.

I would like to post more, but what to talk about. I suppose all the Avatar topics have been covered fairly comprehensively by now. It would have to be just general "stuff"

Anyway, I hope to be at least a bit more active from now on.

You definitely should stick around, just to have more people here more often is good for the forum.

Well that is settled then! I will make an effort to be around more. But first, I think a change of sobriquet might be on the cards. Yes, quite.

well, Chester, one thing that hasn't changed in all these years, at least not on my part, is my complete and utter refusal to spend one damn penny on anything related to the Black Friday consumer-puppet clownshow that happens annually here in murica. i will not spend one bit of my hard-earned paper scraps on ridiculous marked up for sale useless junk because of some crass overrated consumer holiday. grrrrrr.

i celebrate Christmas for family, friends, peace, only on December 25th, not for a pile of cheap made in china plastic drivel. yuck.

It is quite unfortunate that we in the UK have imported this "Black Friday" nonsense. I simply loathe the whole thing but sadly, there might not be any getting away from it now.

I was with some friends on Thursday when the topic of Black Friday came up, and one of them, a very intelligent chap, stated he was hoping to visit the shops to get some deals. I asked what particular thing he was looking for to which he replied, "Oh nothing really, I just want to buy something so I don't miss out on the bargains."

I almost threw something at him.

Funny...(well, not funny actually)...when I was in Madrid a couple years ago I saw advertising for Black Friday deals in stores there too. At least I didn't see or hear of mad rushes into stores as soon as they opened!
