while i don't particularly care for the dude or his puppets, trump might actually be good for something during this 4 years of bad comedy....shaking up the political apple tree and causing both inept parties to step back and take a hard look at themselves. there are just as many repubs that despise trump, as there are demos that are still forcing silly recounts that won't change anything. smh.

Source - Donald Trump TIME Person of the Year
![]() Come on guys the man defeated all of the biggest name politicians of our time and made the media look like a joke. Can we at least get... a little... pumped? https://youtu.be/7HDCn3gE-Dk He isn't even the president yet and has already saved 1,200 jobs and cut a deal to have 50 billion dollars invested in the United States along with 50 thousand jobs. Just imagine what eight years of this will do for us if he doesn't lose his momentum. He's not even going to be paid. He waved the $400,000 per year. Even for the most pessemistic person you have to admit these are good things. As a Trump supporter and first time voter I like most of what I'm seeing thus far.

Just as a side note, the Person Of The Year is not necessarily a sign of acclaim, but merely a recognition of influence - in Time's own words, "for better or for worse".
![]() Saving jobs is great, though - in my opinion - it gets a bit more dangerous when done in the name of nationalism. Is saving a million American jobs at the expense of a million jobs overseas automatically a good thing? I say not, but opinions may differ

Some talk about Russian hackers influencing the United States elections. I don't believe there is any evidence to support the claim, but Putin is bold sort of chap. It could have happened.
Of course, it could be nothing but an attempt to discredit Trump. |

Considering this is coming from the CIA, seems likely there's plenty of evidence and unlikely it's a slander campaign, but you never know.

Crikey, serious stuff.
Well, if it comes to blows between the US and Russia, be sure to leave us poor old Brits out of it. We have enough trouble with Brexit and the Europeans. |

the electoral college voted December 19th and he got his minimum 270 votes to insure the win, and wound up with 306 after all the elector drama. trumpster is our 45th POTUS, for better or worse.....worse in my book, tbh.
think about this...Pres. Obama as the 'environmental president' kept our oil/gasoline prices relatively low, during his eight years in office, through his policies and taxes and i for one, enjoyed paying as low as $1.66 a gallon at one point in 2016. i hate the Big Oil companies and their utter disregard for the environment, environmental laws, and the average consumer of limited means, so anyone that imposes limits and penalties on these corporate animals, is a good person in my book. i would have EASILY voted for Pres. Obama for a third term, over those clinton and trump assclowns. i am currently in Ohio, visiting family for Christmas and am about to head back to Virginia, and i have already seen as high as $2.89 a gallon, in the seven states i have driven in over this vacation, up from $1.99-$2.09 just several weeks ago. i honestly believe we will see $4 gallon of gas prices again, and soon, as trump is an environmental disaster waiting to happen, and will easily allow deregulation of the oil industry again. no oil company wants to see consumers pay $1.99 a gallon when they can rake in billions more charging you $3.99 a gallon. a lot of the Obama Administration's oil regulation rules prevented this scalping of the consumer, especially in his second term. trumpster is a disaster just waiting to happen. mark my words.

The world is a mess, but looking at the positives for a moment, at least I have plenty to read about in the newspaper these days.

^Definitely, but I'd really like some positive news once in a while. Actually the most "positive" news here in Germany was when that terrorist guy Amri was hunted down and got shot in Italy...

it will curious to see, whether or not President Obama will issue a pardon for Edward Snowden, before he leaves office on the 20th. Snowden should be pardoned and protected under the 1989 Whistleblower Protection Act, a United States federal law that protects federal whistleblowers who work for the gov't and report agency misconduct. regardless of whether you agree with Snowden's methods of exposing the illegal and unconstitutional bulk data collection and mass surveillance, he didn't do any of it for money or fame, he did it as a moral service to the people of America, and by extension, our allies and friendly countries, and obviously our enemies.
i have always wondered how we are supposed to be the shining symbol of 'democracy' to the world, when we are ourselves are not a democracy??? we hold people in black site prisons, we hold people in gitmo for 15 years with no due process or rights, we profile our own citizens, we mass surveillance the whole damn world, and we blow you up with armed drones whenever we feel like it. is my gov't gonna launch a hellfire missle down at my router i.p. because of my critical post??? it's not beyond the realm of possibility... ![]() ![]()
