Back in 2010/2011 there's were a guy named "Bao" who started making a 3d model of Neytiri, he did great work on it, but he stopped working on it, so he never finished it, don't know why, but before that he was kind enough to share it. The good news is that the hardest part of modeling her likeness has been already been done by him, just have to do UVs, Texturing and Rigging. The bad news is that my 3d skills are not that good, in fact I don't know how to do it yet, so I will have to learn it, and also don't have a lot of free time, so it might take some time, if I don't quit like he did. Here are some pics.

If it can be completed that would be awesome. Have it as close to the movie style as possible.

Good start! Are you planning to using a traditional or PBR workflow? Could get some pretty interesting results with separate emission maps for the sanhì

Yes, Cycles Render is PBR, you can see what my shader made of on the right, only 2 maps. I was trying in blender painting tools, which also has texture project, I have to do some work, like fixing the right ear, before any serious texturing.

Look forward to see how she turns out. I started modeling my own model here aswell a few years ago (woa time flies). Its been a great way to learn more about 3D work. I'm using Maya tho so i dont think i could help much unfortunatly. Enjoy!

Had a few problems with the mesh, spend a lot of time trying to fix it. Mirror modifier made a lot of micro holes, then when applying scale, eyes normals were flipped, also had to redo ear. Most of that is fixed now.
