I agree these looks like they were supposed to be for an earth-based scene. I get the feeling there were supposed to be more earth stuff in the early drafts, there is some concept art for a rail gun style sniper rifle for example that might have been the weapon that put Jake in the wheelchair.

That's the one. We never see anything like it in the movie and its rail-gun component seems a bit too hightech to work on pandora. There is also the fact its dated 2006 and is still using the project 880 name
