Just a memory from this past summer, and the thoughts it leads to.
I was running along coastal rocks. About ten-fifteen feet of irregular granite, studded with fridge sized boulders. My feet were bare and calloused. I was wearing nothing but a pair of blue swim trunks. As I ran along these rocks, probably a quarter mile of them, I couldn't help but feel how primal it was. Just running, completely caught in the now. Completely focused. Completely free. It's probably as intrinsic as I have ever felt. I'm sure many other men my age have run those rocks, from many different centuries. Another thing I'm sure of is that they were all fit. At the time I was 140 pounds of sinew, with probably sub ten body fat. I'm a bit bigger now, yet even leaner. To run those rocks requires fitness, coordination, and spatial reasoning. A na'vi would have passed me like I was standing still. This leads me to my point. If we, those who have been profoundly effected by this movie, want to get closer to its perfect protagonists; we have to master the body. There are no unfit na'vi, and the least beautiful of them are leaps and bounds ahead of the average of our species. More than any other physical characteristic, modern people are FAT. I write this as I look down at my veined, five fingered hands, calloused from weightlifting. To be as na'vi like as we can, we have to be examples of vigor. Lean and strong and lively. We don't have Pandora, or Tsaheylu, but we can own our bodies. Perfect them. Last edited by Intertwined; 03-21-2017 at 03:15 AM. |

Yeah I know what you mean.
Avatar did have an effect that lead me to trying to get fit. I dropped about 10kg in a year and now am trying to put on a bit of muscle (though I often get stuck). What's your workout plan if I may ask? |

^^^It's incredibly detailed. We can go PM if you'd like.
As for exercise, it has to be a way of life, not something you begrudgingly do every so often. We are hunter gatherers by nature. Eight hours of moderate exercise. Ten hours of sleep. We can substitute the eight hours for 1-1.5 hours of highly strenuous workout. The ten hours of sleep is a whole nother problem that I can discuss for hours. |

Our society is broken though. Thirty percent of humans are overweight. Another twenty percent are starving. Obesity isn't something to be positive about, just as one shouldn't be positive about anorexia or smoking. What I wrote isn't a joke. Last edited by Intertwined; 03-23-2017 at 10:37 PM. |

Well as long as you don't think it's a joke.

I'm just surprised no one else commented on the blatant narcissism and borderline homo-eroticism in the original post.

I'm fit, and it shouldn't be taboo to talk about it. Especially in a forum dedicated to the lithe, fit, inhumanly perfect inhabitants of Pandora. Your malicious ad hominem attacks (necessitating deletion) were uncalled for. Please, if you want to remain in a state of 'Misery Forever', don't rub it off on the rest of us. I for one like to enjoy my life. Last edited by Intertwined; 03-26-2017 at 02:10 AM. |

Iron Jones' personality is something of an acquired taste. Try not to take his blunt words to heart.
![]() I am curious as to the purpose of your thread however. As pleasant as your story is, it is no secret that western societies have more than their fair share of walking lard buckets. |

While the Na'vi carry values of respect, wisdom, health and vigor, they are also fictional characters created and perfected by computer, even though they are modeled after actors. Therefore, I take ''To be as na'vi-like as we can'' with a grain of salt when it comes to perfect their body. However, being healthy and fit is good, just don't follow images. There are also living ways you can adopt to be even more Na'vi-like, such as reducing your consumption and adopting some wise behaviours.
Correct me if I misunderstand.
