A BSOD always has a cause. Usually drivers, although sometimes faulty hardware. Software itself can't cause one, only make an underlying problem apparent (e.g. through load, or use of graphics drivers).

I'm going to make a concerted effort to not do that pattern and be continuously present between now and 2020.

I tend to have issues joining video chats though. My hardware is in a poor state of repair that I am unmotivated to fix.
