Default What would a glitch in a link bed look like?

So in the film Grace says Jake's bed is the least glitchy but what kind of glitches is she talking about?

Is it visual/sensorial distortions?

Loss of fine motor control (hands being clumsy)?

Lag (delayed responses or input)

Freezes (The avatar freezes for several seconds while the connections realign)

I realise this is not quite serious but what do people think?

I'm honestly surprised that despite the film being out for 8 years, no ones ever asked this before

By glitches it could be all of those things you listed.

Is there any mention of glitches in film? Like is there anyone complaining after exiting the link (I don't think there is - but can't be bothered to check)

Worst case scenario is that a major glitch leads to your consciousness being lost or something if the bridge between your human body and Avatar is damaged. Also I wonder if there would be any psychological side affects of using the link/being in the avatar for a long time?

Given that your consciousness never leaves your body, it would probably be more about feedback causing neural damage.

As for continuous use that is an interesting question. Jake must have been using it for at least 12 hours a day for 3 months so I'd be more concerned about the pressures put on his human body.

Yikes. I imagine any sort of glitch experienced in one's avatar body would be an annoyance at best and traumatizing at worst, depending on where the person is or what they're doing at the time the glitch occurs.

Grace says it in the film when they first arrive at site 26. "Beula, she's the least glitchy." Means, there has been stuff like that before. Who knows what the results are as we've not seen it in the movie.

Hm, good question
I guess a signal lag in the transmission from human -> avatar would cause symptoms similar to epilepsy (loss of motor control and unvoluntary movements) while problems with the avatar -> human signal cause a drunk like feeling (sense feedback is slow and inaccurate)

in all honesty my first thought when i saw this topic was a glitch i found for donkey kong country that allowed you to control both kongs at once instead of the non-player kong following behind you automatically.

so, maybe a glitch in the link bed could manifest as brain activity accidentally getting split between the two bodies, giving the driver the feeling that they're in two places at once.
physically it'd look like they were just very uncoordinated in their avatar body, but mentally it'd be very disorienting and frightening because their normally unconscious human body is suddenly semi conscious and probably going through something similar to sleep paralysis.
