'Avatar' more powerful than Gore flick?

While "Avatar" director James Cameron and former Vice President Gore are both on team green, the Hollywood filmmaker said his film might have a leg up on Gore's documentary when it comes to inspiring people to become environmentalists.

"You don't fight the gunships of emotion with the bows and arrows of logic," Cameron said Thursday on Capitol Hill.

"'An Inconvenient Truth' is a great film, lot of bars and graphs ... but it doesn't hit you in the heart. 'Avatar' has zero information, by the way," he added.

Cameron, "Avatar" star Sigourney Weaver, New York Times columnist Thomas L. Friedman and "Morning Joe's" Joe Scarborough joined forces and discussed various ways people might be convinced to get on board the environmental movement.

Scarborough, called out as the only Republican, laid out a very practical approach, but also acknowledged the movie could be an effective vehicle.

"I've got to agree with James in that while Al Gore had all the charts and graphs, if you want to hit my son, this is the way to do it." Scarborough said.
