Default Possibly Avatar novels?

'Avatar' and its four planned sequels spawn book series - LA Times

We've been burned with news like this before. But with the sequels coming out, maybe this time we'll actually get them?

Maybe?

Please?

you have no idea what i'd give to read an official and much delayed/deserved expanded version of Avatar, in a novelized format. it's long overdue! not to mention an ongoing series, i'd read and buy them all!

I would love to see this happen, a visual novel for the movie would be fantastic! "Penguin Random House announced Wednesday that it will publish "a wide range of books across adult and children's formats" I can only hope we'll get a better look into the flora/fauna of Pandora and daily life in different tribes. I'm excited about this news!

Sounds good.

Hopefully the books go ahead unlike the Avatar comic series that was planned - BTW does anyone know what happened with that? I could be wrong :/ maybe they put them on hold for the release of Avatar 2...

Delayed until Avatar 2, remember they signed that contract when avatar was to be released in 2018 and the free comic book day promotion would have been the start of building up interest.

With the movie suddenly pushed back to 2020 it made no sense to publish comics aiming to cash in on the movie's hype to sell well.

I’m hoping these will still happen! And if they do, I’m curious as to their canonicity. Have we ever had an official clarification on what is and isn’t considered canon with the films?

all three versions of the film, Avatar, Avatar SE, and Avatar CE, are canon, as are Survival Guide, Avatar Art Vault book, and recently finished six-part Tsu'tey's Path comic book series from Dark Horse Comics. everything else is fan produced or not licensed by the former 20th Century Fox.

Well, I don’t think an art book can be “canon” right? I mean — take the comics for instance — are these canonical stories? Is James Cameron beholden to their narrative the same way he is to the first film? Things can be officially licensed and still not canon.
