Srane. Not being alive would be a shame.
Hope I'll go to Eywa after all.

I have a lot of positive vibes on Avatar 2 and the other sequels. To me I feel James has yet to make a movie that disappoints, so I feel they will be promising, BUT if I were to say...
-I seen a comment above say this, but if they basically have the same plot the first one did. We all know Quaritch will be back and the main villain in all sequels, but if its going to be about the same thing with trying to destroy the forests and mine again for Unobtanium, then I won't be thrilled. Quaritch may be the main villain, but Parker and Lyle are returning too. Not sure how, but they are! -Not having a very good plot. Now again, I trust James, but if these sequels have a weak plot and the story seems bland, i'll be very disappointed especially with this long wait. -Not seeing all of Pandora. Of course we are SUPPOSED to see more of Pandora, especially the oceans and volcanoes, but if we only just see a small portion of Pandora, i'll be a bit sad. I want to see all climates. Like does Pandora have snowy areas? Deserts? Other climates? Yes we see rain forests, part of the ocean, plains, plenty of mountains and caves in the first film. -If they change character personalities. I am sure Jake and Neytiri will have changed a bit due to having a family, Jake adjusting to the Na'vi ways as the Olo'eyktan, and Neytiri being Tsahik, but if they both have complete different personalities, i'll be quite disappointed. We know Neytiri is a skilled hunter, fierce and brave, and willing to fight for her people. I can understand if Neytiri mellows down due to being a mother and a Tsahik, but I don't want to see Neytiri become too soft or a wimp. Thats about it for me. I do have a positive feeling about these sequels, but of course we don't know how they will be until they get here. |

Seriously? I know Quaritch and Selfridge are returning, but Wainfleet is too? |

Possibly cloning, though I can't think of many other possibilities myself. Some people think that Quaritch's return will be explained by the revelation that it was only his own avatar body that was killed, and that the real him was operating it from elsewhere. If that's the case with Quaritch, maybe it'll be the same with Wainfleet.

I think we can all agree that would be the dumbest explanation. Like, why would they spend millions of dollars cloning somebody and then sending them back to finish a job they already failed to do, when they could literally just send another guy?

The dumbest possible explanation is getting trampled/two poison tipped javelin sized arrows straight through the heart somehow didn't kill them.

it has to be human avatars. after all, the RDA had to make sure that the human mind could sync up with an artificially created brain, before they introduced non-human dna into the mix, a la the Na'vi genes/genetic source material.
i'm pretty sure the RDA is quite capable of 'weaponizing' scientific research human avatars, and turning them into remote control soldiers.

I have a feeling Avatar 2 will start off with a flashback of Quaritch dying and then popping out of the link chamber like Norm did.

okay, i can see that. where would that link bed be at? at a remote site elsewhere on Pandora? on the orbiting ISV above Pandora? on another moon of the Alpha Centauri A system? how far could a rda/secops facility transmit a neural link with an avatar?

Most likely on the ISV. I would think it would be difficult to hide a remote station without the Navi knowing about it.

i watched that New Life deleted scene again today, and to be perfectly honest, it just looks like the ISV is moving away from Pandora to another part of the Polyphemus system. the engine burn looks like normal flight, not entry into hyperspace or dimensional travel however the rda does their lightspeed travel. i think the survivors were told to stay in system and wait for assistance by another ISV and fresh rda/secops personnel.

Some things that would ruin it for me personally would be a short runtime, a score that is forgettable and doesn't include the original themes, information that contradicts already established worldbuilding, and - like was mentioned before - some magical element which could destroy the fantastic attention to scientific detail that was established in Avatar. I also worry any sequels would suffer from the modern CGI 'disease' where films look rubbery and uncanny. Some of the newer Marvel movies have this effect - where the CG characters and effects are just... strange. Off somehow. Avatar was near perfect in this regard - ESPECIALLY for a 2009 movie - and I really hope the sequels can match or one-up this performance. I guess at this point, though, I am so desperate for the sequels that I don't think even these points could ruin it. I just want more Pandora, damnit!
