Default Anyone else going to avoid Avatar 2 promotional material?

So, I don't know about anyone else, but when the promotional material for Avatar 2 starts coming, I'm going to sort of limit as best as I can my ability to see it. The reason why is when the first Avatar movie came out, the only thing I knew about it was this was a thing that happened in the movie.

And I had seen that so long before the movie came out, I had actually forgotten about it until the scene actually happened in the movie. If I recall correctly, I saw that during the Superbowl in 2009 and only that one time.

Completely without context. And I think if I knew more about Avatar going in, I might not have enjoyed it as much.

The same thing could be said about Avatar: Flight of Passage. Before Avatarmeet 2017, I found a bunch of videos on the ride, including the entire ride itself. And I saved those videos to a playlist, but I didn't actually watch them until after I got home from the meet up.

In the same vein, the first time I watch the trailer for Avatar 2 will be (assuming all goes according to plan) after I see the movie for the first time.

I'm highly considering doing this myself. These days I largely avoid trailers for movies that I know I'll go see. I really enjoy the sense of surprise that I otherwise wouldn't get.

I saw Avatar on DVD and heard little about it beforehand so it was a shocker. I will probably do the same for part 2. I don't watch tv, browse news, or see commercials (no cable) so I should be good as long as I don't get stuck on a youtube spree and end up watching 14 versions of the trailer.

This is a good idea. I knew nothing of Avatar before I saw it.

I'm going to try my very best not to see any trailers or TV ads the sequel films...but I know it's not going to be easy to avoid seeing that stuff. You almost have to stay off the Internet and not watch any TV, but those are things I just cannot do.

Lucky for me, I doubt they'll be showing Avatar 2 trailers on Pornhub.

Not me. I can't wait to start seeing teasers and trailers for A2 and get that excitement in the pit of your stomach feeling again. Going to Disney's Pandora last February just made ma muntxate and I crave everything Avatar again and want more. I'll probably be going through the trailers frame by frame. Can't wait for the 4K super-extended version of A1. Although sometimes when I'm craving a little Avatar I wish that there was a shorter 90min version for a quick fix. I don't have a lot of time to watch 3hr movies any more (says the guy who's seen Avatar 102 times).

If you need a quick fix of Avatar, I'd recommend watching a video of flight of passage or a 360 video of Navi River Journey on youtube.

Aaaah! Flight of Passage! Watching that will just make me want to go back again! (Good idea though!) I was blown away by the Na'vi Shaman animatronic on Na'vi River Journey, but not so much the voice. They should have gotten Ninat for the voice, she's the best singer. We just went to Pandora in February and we cant wait to go back again this coming February. (Psst... if you don't care about football, go to Disney on Superbowl Sunday, everyone else is home watching the game!)
