Seeing the difference between Terminator and Terminator 2 gives me confidence that the quality will be there, and that it will be well worth the wait. I know that with the advances in technology it will be even more visually stunning than the original. I just hope that it isn't so different that it doesn't seem like Pandora anymore. I so love the magical feeling of the first film, and how I felt the first time I saw the bioluminescent forest. I enjoy that far away distant feeling I get from places like that. It's why I enjoy watching abstract animations by aspiring animators. I got the same feeling when I watched "Mune: The Guardian of the Moon."
The thing I'm afraid of most is that James Cameron will make it too political. I don't really care how the sequels do at the box office; I just want them to be true to the original vision — minus the political and social issues of today. The great thing about storytelling, especially if it's set in the future, is that you can paint a different picture of the direction of human history where solutions to problems have been found. That has a far more positive psychological effect on the audience, and gives people a more hopeful view of the future. If I showed you a movie depicting human civilization one million years from now with current social and political issues still taking place it would give you a depressing outlook on the future. I want to go to Pandora — not Political Propaganda Land.
