Default So where are they?

The forum was rocking with alot of fans when it was released. Nowadays it seems that most of the original fans have moved on. Do you think they still get email notifs about the forum but chose to ignore or have unsubscribed?

I am still here and never leaving. I find it hard to leave something I was/am so passionate about. It has almost been a decade!

I think part of the issue is that when AF closed down the fandom really fractured. A lot left to set up a series of new forums that all lacked critical mass/awareness, reddit too off meaning forum traffic declined.

I think there is an avatar fandom still out there but its so spread out and operating under so many names that its hard to visualise it.

It'd be great if the AF domain could be acquired by someone with the ability and desire to resurrect that site sometime before the sequels come out. By then I suspect a lot of the old members will want to find something to come back to, and I'm sure there will be new ones who might not know to google "Tree of Souls" or "Learn Na'vi." I have no idea how that could happen though.

That is a very good point, I also feel that in the future the subreddit is going to be an important gateway as well. There should be an effort to make more interaction and crossover between the forums.

It's been almost nine years. Every topic that can be discussed has been discussed, and probably beaten into the ground. PAD fades away and people move on.
I was seventeen when I saw Avatar; I'm twenty-five now. That's a lot of time, very easy to forget about a movie forum when you have life to deal with.

Hopefully the sequel will bring back some of the old regulars.

I'm here, sorta. Left over half a decade ago, but every few months or so I check in here to see some posts 'n stuffs. Still passionate about it, but on an internal level. I mean, dude, I'm closing in on turning 30 in a couple years. I was 19 when the movie released. Working in Hollywood now, though. If I get word of anything that I'm able to divulge, I'll let y'all know.

Also glad this place still exists. It really served as a growing-up tool in my early 20s.

Congrats on progressing to Nawmtu. Makes me recall the fun of quickly progressing through ranks way back when this forum was younger.

If I had to venture a guess, we'll start seeing them around holiday 2020/Superbowl 2021.

The best place I've found in the last few years to meet Avatar fans I wasn't familiar with was on Instagram of all places. It's actually my go to hangout. I still keep up with a lot of AF members but it's spread out between, Instagram, Facebook, Skype, WhatsApp, and as Exo said earlier in this thread the people are out there but they are spread out. Losing AF really rocked a lot of peoples online community, and even if they weren't still frequent visitors to the forum a lot of people would check in from time to time. I never really started posting here because I didn't want to have to start over again.

I love the idea of someone resurrecting AF, even as just an archive where we could view the old forum. The domain seems to be paid up until 12/25/2021 and last I knew the content was for sale. One would assume Lon will either sell it or bring it back closer to the sequels. But what will we get? The last iteration as a wordpress forum with none of the old content didn't fly at all, so it will be interesting to see what happens.

Kxì ma frapo I am still alive, I checked in a while back, as Wameyn stated, after AF I think the fandom fractured, there seem to be active new members on the LN and LN Discord, which seems to be where the linguist fans are and then there is instagram and still FB messenger. I will always be ready for Avatar, lately I have been on the LN discord and instagram more but I havent forgotten about ToS. My Avatar Journey continues, this year I was Lucky enough to make it to the UK to see the finally of the Toruk show with a few other Avatar fans including Alan. And last year I went to Canada to visit TLFN. IMO AF never died, it just got spread out abit, I can't believe it has been almost 10 years since Dec. 2009, the world has changed so much and yet stayed the same in some ways. 2021 will be AWESOME.
