I'm with ya on that one. Having at least *some* thematic continuity would be nice. I hope the colorful, wide-ranging instrumentation is carried over too. Not saying the next composer has to completely emulate James Horner but some things he did should be re-used.

That being said, James Horner was always my favorite film composer going back to my childhood due primarily to the Star Trek 2 and 3 soundtracks and I still don't know who could truly replace him. |

I think the one thing that could ruin it for me would be Neytiri getting killed. That would be truly awful.
RIP James Horner...I hope JC and JL figure out the best alternative they can. Mr Horner was pure gold in his work on Avatar. I'm open to more than one composer, or if they can find a real hidden gem to replace Horner then I'm open to that as well. I have faith they'll find us someone special in their own right.

What would ruin Avatar sequels for me? Not getting to see them for whatever reason. Other than that I am not going to worry about it too much and just trust in JC and JL do work thier magic
. I would hate to see any of my favorite characters die or something, and it would hurt, but I guess it depends on how the story brings you to those possible bad outcomes, sadly we all know things can happen, but at the same time I know its going to be a good story to experience, one thing that we do know now though that we didn't years ago is Jake and Neytiri will have kids(and an older kid) so we know that what ever happens, at the very least they "will" have many years of life together to develop good memories and bonds as a family(even if they are going through trials during that time, and for me anyway it helps deal with the thought that some of our favorite characters may have negative things happen.

For example, the reason the eyes of the Na'vi look so real and not "dead" (as many mo-cap characters tend to) is because they designed the eyes to model after actual eyeballs, separating the object into three parts: cornea, iris, and lens. Each was its own CG entity, making the finished product look perfect. Not near perfect-- perfect. Away from Avatar, there's a reason the CG effects in the Lord of the Rings trilogy still hold up today: they were designed by Weta Digital. Weta is the consummate, premium apex of CG effecting in our time. They're the best of the best. I'm not worried about the sequel effects. I'm beyond excited to see what we're gonna have the privilege of viewing. |

If Jake joins House Redoran and not House Telvanni I'm gonna be so miffed.

^ I think you’re spot-on there. Alpha Centauri is 4.367 light years away IRL, so if the trip takes six years, they’re traveling near loghtspeed (but not quite). Right?

Yes, they can only travel close to lightspeed. They do however have a faster than light for of communication though.

I recently watched Avatar: CE on my birthday, but I actually don't watch it very frequently either. What I often do from the late spring to the mid-fall is to go out walking on a trail listening to the Avatar soundtrack as well as the soundtrack of Pandora: The World of Avatar and possibly Toruk: The First Flight (although usually just the first two).

Thankfully, while CO-VID19 is deadlier than the flu and needs to be slowed from spreading, the majority of people that get it will have mild symptoms, so anyone persons odds from dieing from it is still low, but I know the feeling, a couple of weeks ago the Avatar sequels were 6 inches from being cancelled for me by a vehicle that nearly ran me over in a crosswalk. I need Avatar sequels, world please let me live to see them.
