The forum eventually became a website with a blog as a frontpage and a cheap forum without the old posts. Nobody used it so it went down. What remains of this is social media accounts.

The owner is a certain Lon.

It looks like it’s all long gone. I’d be surprised if the owner would have the original files and database. Especially after a relaunch with a blog and forum, as it appears all the previous info has been lost.

Well Lon isn't interested in selling. A shame really, a lot of history there.

It looks like I walked into a whole fued that's being going on for a few years and I never knew about it's past and the issues surrounding the site. Had a good read of the olds posts on here.

But, he's aware and I doubt he'd ever sell it but at least I asked.

It was quite the event, to say the least. Basically me and a few others were unhappy with the way that Avatar-Forums was managed back in early 2010, and ultimately founded ToS as a replacement. It led to some friction since people were torn between the two communities, and in retrospect I think it wasn't the best way to go about doing things.

At the time, it was easy to get caught up in the excitement of trying to make a difference, and there's a number of things I'd have done differently today for sure. But it's in the past now - 10 years is a long time and most of the people involved have moved on in general. And it's easy to get too focused on the negatives - overall, I think ToS has been a welcoming place for a great number of people and I'm really happy that I got the opportunity to contribute to the community by running it.

As much as the activity has winded down, I still visit with some frequency and am always glad to see the posts that do occur! I'm determined to make sure ToS sticks around for as long as it possibly can

Well, thanks for trying at least. Dunno why it's so important for him to hold on to it.

I honestly did try, but he just wasn't interested in the least. I'm not sure why but he's hanging on to it?

But I'd be interested in helping TOS if it ever wants it, and of course they're welcome to come on my forums.

Can't wait till 2021, I hope to see this place buzzing.

But.... In order to grab new users, the site really needs to be up and running with new software.

i ended up being the highest posting member on AF, with 15,353 posts before Lon flew his ISV Greed into our Tree of Voices and killed the place. i shall forever be saddened at the avarice of that individual, however my anger has faded into the past and i tend now to be more pragmatic at the actions of one varmit vice the actions of the once legion of fans who have fled into the Desert of Despair and are no more. i am active on several other celebrity/tv/film websites, and there are literally no other Avatar fans on these sites or even visitors to the Avatar threads. sad. very sad only.
