Yeah, it will probably be region coded. Although a lot of modern DVD players are multi region now. Alternatively, there's always a certain program, the name of which includes the word DVD and the opposite of encrypter

Canceled my order from amazon. I'm trading release date delivery for an autograph, but I think the few days wait will be worth it.

I would Pre-Order but then I have to wait for shipping. I'll have it next Wednesday at midnight!

Exciting indeed. I'm still trying to figure out whether I should cancel my order for the combo Blu-ray/DVD pack from Amazon and get the autographed Blu-ray with my name on it for $6 more.

On one side, I get an autograph from the creator of the Na'vi language, and on the other, I get both the Blu-ray and DVD for less money.

What to do... what to do...

Get an autograph from the creator of the Na'vi language. 100% worth it IMO. As soon as I found out about this I reconsidered my earlier pre-order and went with the auto-graphed copy. It's going to have my name on it too.

Can't wait.

Although, my mom's friend was over here earlier, and suggested that I still purchase my pre-ordered copy and never use the autographed copy, for the sake of keeping it a collectors item. I like that idea so I will get both I think. One copy auto-graphed by Paul Frommer to keep safe and another copy to open & use.

Well, after a bit of thinking, I've decided to cancel my order for the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack on Amazon and instead bought the autographed Blu-ray version for $22.00 extra. An opportunity like this doesn't come often, and I can always buy the DVD later if need be.

Awesome! Definitely worth it I'd say.

When you say $22 extra, are you talking about the $22 priority shipping?

I'm trying to decide if I should get this as well... and if I should get it autographed to my IRL name or my name here.

I'd go with my name IRL. Nothing like having the brilliant man that created the Na'vi language auto-graph a copy with YOUR real name on it.

Shipping cost ($10 normal shipping), tax ($4), and the higher price of the Blu-ray ($8).

You should definitely get it if you're willing to spend a little extra money. Get it autographed with your real name too.

Ah I see. I saw the $22 and thought of the priority shipping, which I got. ($22 for shipping, yikes! ) It came to about $56 CDN. It's worth it though to get it auto-graphed by the man that created the Na'vi language.

HNM: use your real name! You won't be able to upload a picture of it to ToS, but it's far more personal and more permanent.

I'm feeling awkward reading through this thread, seeing as I don't have a Blu-Ray player and I'll be lucky if I can get Avatar in *any* media! I'm currently hoping to get Avatar on iTunes when it comes out -- here's hoping that it's a decent-resolution file...

I was going to suggest that if you aren't able to get it on Blu Ray, try to purchase Avatar in HD online somewhere.

Avatar is up for pre-order on the iTunes store right now, but the HD version isn't up for pre-order yet. The HD version should be up soon and if not it will be available come release day hopefully. The odds are good that if you have any decent computer monitor, it is most likely a high definition screen, so you can still watch Avatar in HD that way!

I'm going to buy Avatar from the iTunes store in HD as well. That way I can watch it in HD on my computer when I can't watch it on Blu Ray.

Cool! I've never bought a movie on the iTunes store -- do you know what resolution the HD version is likely to be? I've a 1080p screen hooked up to my laptop (it isn't a 50" HDTV, but it's not bad ), so I'm hoping that Apple will make an exception for Avatar and sell the full-blown HD version online.

Now, to figure out how to watch it without my parents walking in and wondering why I'm getting so worked up about a film...
