I watched it last night. Had the apartment to myself, turned off the phone-zero distractions. It was wonderful. I've never seen it in 2D in the theaters, and I was really surprised at the COLORS. There was so much detail in the forest that I've never noticed before. Things really pop, the vibrancy is unreal. And it may have something to do with the closer/more personal sound setup of home versus the theater, but there were a lot of little things in the score and sound effects that I'd never heard before. Really incredible, I'm glad I decided to just get it instead of waiting till November. I don't know how you guys can stand to wait!

I'm planning to get the DVD now (as I don't have BD player or 1080p screen), and then the extended version Bluray in November

Well, I'm going to have to wait till tomorrow. I bought it today, brought it home but went to go help my cousins move stuff and my dad took it for him and his girlfriend to watch, I think he secretly has an obsession for Avatar. He has seen it more than I have. And its getting pretty late and I don't want to turn it down so he can sleep while I'm watching. So it will have to wait.

But, when I do watch it, all the lights are off, Surround sound and amplifier and sub are cranked, and I hope watching it in only 1080i will be just as good as 1080p but either way, it will still be an awe inspiring experience.

I watched my copy last night with my girlfriend. We had fun, ordered some pizza, bought some soda and Kahlúa, and spent the evening enjoying the movie. We tried offering Jake, Neytiri, and Norm some pizza and shots of Kahlúa, but we had no takers...

I just watched it at home for the first time.

The first thing it strikes me is that I can understand why it was so popular in the cinema. It was clearly made for the cinema even on 2D.

But saying that, it's great on Blu-ray as well. It is still definately my favourite movie. There is just nothing else like it.

I stood in line at 12:01 to get my copy (i got the 3rd copy in my town ) and blu-ray with surround sound on my 60 in. t.v. is amazing, my only problem in the design flaw of giving us a slow down/frame-by-frame tool, it took me 4.5 hours to watch it at home XD

I finally got the chance to watch it in peace today while the rest of my family was at the movies. It didn't have the same magic it had the first time I saw it (which I only felt the first time I was at the theater, never on repeat viewings), but it was surprisingly enjoyable.

Here's my setup:
72" 1080p
7.1 surround sound

Well - this is about the first time, I really wish I had access to a HD-TV and a surround sound system. You really make it sound like it is a great experience to have these things together with the Blue Ray Disk. Usually I am not interested in getting a new TV, my old one still is ok for watching some TV occasionally and I am loosing interest in Media for some time now (actually paradoxically even more so after Avatar). So I'm not getting these things just for Avatar - I guess I'll go to the cinemas again, though. Hopefully I can find some friend with a good home entertainment system at some time...
