Alright, this show had great potential in my opinion, but I think they really ****ed up... This is NOTHING like Stargate, this is more like a reality show set in space with awesome special effects. And quite honestly, we haven't even encountered a single "normal" alien yet, just some freaky sand-tornado
![]() Well, I hope Season 2 has more to offer, it has been green-lit, but there are no confirmations yet about the release date as far as I know. Anyways, this is just my opinion on the show. It's definitely worth watching because of the awesome special-effects, and for the lore (which we haven't seen much of tho... really random goa'uld ships wipes out off-world base?). Discuss!

I definitely will follow it until the end, it's entertaining to watch, but it's just lost the "stargate-touch", ya know?
Too much focus on the people and their relationships, too little on the actual journey through space

I have a confession to make. The only Stargate other than SGU that I've watched is the original movie, and I wasn't terribly impressed. I thought it was a great concept and had some nice moments, but overall I thought it came up a bit short. I've enjoyed following SGU ever since my brother got me into it though. While it's definitely been a bit slow so far (okay, more than a bit), it's still entertaining for me. The "Season 1.5" teaser suggests that it will be getting better. There are real aliens, for one.

I disagree with the first post.
I hated SG-1. Then atlantis came, and it was epic, I loved the cast and crew, all amazing work. Now SGU is here... It's more about the depth of the characters. If you watched the last aired episode you'll see that rush was left on an abandoned planet with a wrath ship left on it. anyone else feel we're gonna see the wraith sometime soon?

I've watched Stargate SG-1 ever since 1997. It gave me visions to places I've never been before. The show was great in my opinion, so was Atlantis.
I hate this new version of Stargate tbh... only because you have to watch them all in sequence to find something going on. I see small bits every episode. I kind of freak out when I see the special effects (in a good way) and the very fact a stargate exists is what is keeping me on-board. RDA was amazing, and seeing him as an Armchair general ain't fun unless if he makes smart ass comments. I'm sorry gentlemen, I got caught up in the melodrama between the Senator's daughter and all of that. It's predictable and cheesy to me, it smures my view of the show.

Movie was good. First four or five seasons of SG-1 were amazing!
SGA seemed like constant repetition, it was always the same thing and I never got into it. And SGU seems to be more like lost, which I detest. |
