Default New Forum Features: Stats And Shoutbox.

Two new things have been added here recently (well 3, sort of)

The first one, a couple days ago, is a shoutbox/chatbox. This is found directly under the forum listings, near the bottom of the page. It is slightly delayed real-time chat. It is for occasional small talk, and does not replace forum posting, or the IRC channel, which is much better suited for general chat.

Speaking of IRC, the "sort of" addition is the new "IRC Chat" link in the top Navbar. This leads to a java-based webclient which will dump you into the #treeofsouls channel with your forum user name.

The last addition, just activated, is a more detailed forum stats module. This is located under the shoutbox. The left column will list the 10 newest posts. The upper right column shows the hottest threads and the lower right is the top 5 posters, by default. You can click the arrows on the 2 right sections to change the listing to a few other categories as well. One important note - the Forum Games section is excluded from the new posts and hottest threads listings, for obvious reasons, but they are not excluded from the post counts, etc.

Alright, has passed...

Ty for fixing the IRC, it was annoying having to shoehorn in. : /

I don't understand the deja vu, but you are welcome for the IRC. A real client is still better

The top five posters thing is a bit limited-looking, since the top 5 happen to be over a thousand posts, and no one else will ever reach that number. I understand it's a bit like the "Forum Leaders" list, only with post-count, but it seems like the top 5 will remain the top 5... forever.

And that, to me, is a bit discouraging to others. Maybe a top 10 would loosen the ends a bit, but the top 5 posters are all over a thousand posts.

At the very least it should be "Top 6," to give five non-HNM people a chance at it.

Oh very nice. And it matches with the rest of the bottom layout, too. Love it!
