Also, I should add, I could also meet up with both of you separately and see the movie with both of you as well, as my itinerary really goes right by both places as it stands now. It would be very cool to have us all together though.

My ideal idea would be to drive to your area Saturday morning, be there by noon or a little after, hang out some, and go see Avatar for an evening show, assuming it's been released by then. Failing that, watch it at your place maybe. Stay at your place if possible, or somewhere cheap, then go to Crater Lake Sunday morning. Spend the day there, you could head back home and Autumn/I can stay somewhere north of the park. Make the drive back to Yachats Monday, seeing waterfalls/forest along the way. Be back in Yachats Monday evening, so only one missed day of volunteer work.

That's just a first idea. I suppose the Redwoods could also be done in a similar way, though it would be farther away from your place. I'm already going to be paying for lodging all of these nights regardless, but nothing is prepaid, so I can cover whatever, wherever people end up staying. In the scheme of my massive road trip a little extra spending isn't going to matter much.
Sounds like a good working draft...The wife is cool with overnight--we're out just far enough that the nights are quiet & nice--no real light pollution even though it's not far to population--The Real 3D theatre is 15 miles away with "city" food very near by (fingers crossed for the right time frame)--the TV/computer bit at home is not optimal, so I hope for option #1...

Crater Lake's rim drive "should" be easy by then & a trip on the lake also would be a very good idea (need to get there early & walk around Wizard Island a bit)--I try to stay away from the tourist spot but Autumn might want some park stuff (?)--couple of nice places around the rim drive for a quiet lunch---

I'll think about other interesting spots that could be fun---Tablerock is a easy climb & has a great view of the valley--pity that it's nicer right about now with the wild flowers in bloom--

Another thought would be Oregon Caves--on the Redwood Hwy, Cave Junction. Very cool place with quite a bit of history...

Agreed---I do think that "more is better" but it all depends on how things work out..

Yep. Just waiting on a followup from Autumn with her thoughts. There is obviously still a lot of time left, I just like booking lodgings, etc, as far in advance as possible, as things tend to be booked in the summer (especially if I end up wanting a night inside Crater Lake National Park. I'm sure Crater Lake Lodge has been booked solid for months, but the Mazama Cabins usually have some openings.

I suppose PMs might be the better way for the finer details anyway.

Agree--You've got a nite's stay here when you are in the area...hope Autumn can come also--

I'm still keeping fingers crossed for that time being a re-release--it would be perfect.

I would imagine a solid release date will have to be made public in the near future. They will want to start getting the trailer back into theaters, etc. We will just have to hope it comes the first 2 weeks of August. Heh, it being Friday August 13th would be a little ominous though. Maybe it will be August 6th. If it's not until later in the month, we will have to come up with some impressive way to watch it anyway

Well--just for a feel for it---We had very weird weather today--Crater Lake got 16" of snow today & the current total there is 106"--2" over normal. I'd love to see what it looks like right now........

Heh, you can see what it's like in a couple places through the webcams on the park service site, but it's getting dark there now obviously

Crater Lake National Park - Webcams (U.S. National Park Service)

Also, for Autumn, I have found a theater only 20 miles south of Yachats that *apparently* has a 3D screen, just in case you don't want to go far and the re-release is out by then.

Woah thanks guys for all that. I liked that draft idea too. I'm trying to keep a good repore with the motel people because they're being so good with me so I'll just let them know I'll probably be away for a weekend. Other than that I'm pretty happy for anything really, since I am not familiar with anything at all over there so it will all be new and amazing to me. And yeah would be good to be back Monday eve Thanks for keeping that in mind Zongtseng!

Thanks guys.

Well it sounds like we have a decent idea of what we are doing. I am going to PM you both with a itinerary plan, and see where we go from there.
