I have thought about this too. Another quote that comes to mind is one from Gladiator and another from Atlantis.
"What we do in life, echoes in eternity." "Our lives are remembered by the gifts we give our children." I want to build something that will out live me, it is hard to see this now because I'm only 18 and building something to last 50-60 years plus extra is something hard to fathom. But I feel that I can. I have made many things that I use a lot already, mostly tools. I built a Hammer in welding class. A seeder crank. I am in the process of restoring a truck, almost done. I have built 3 computers which won't last long before they are discarded because technology is always growing. I completely rebuilt a truck engine, which I hope lasts a long time. I am still young and these are all materialistic things and some are small. But, I have learned from these things, which as all part of growing. What I want to have is a family and pass my knowledge of things I have done, learned, and experienced onto my children. That I think is the ultimate legacy
