CHAPTER 4

This was insane….surreal…..amazing.
He had done it, Walter thought to himself as the crew were back to working on the trajectory of the surface probes, they had found life.

Walter stood there, almost completely unaware of what was going on around him, lost in thought about the breakthrough he had just made. They had just made. This is going to change everything, he thought with excitement coursing through his veins. This was the key to so many answers no ones been able to answer for, well, ever! He thought even more exuberantly.

“ Walter?” said Jenny tentatively. For about a second, Walter pretended not to hear her, wanting nothing else than to bask in this new found glory. Then he turned to face her. “ Mhm?”

“One of the surface probes have landed, we’re just working on getting the T-Cam up, for some real-time visuals, come on.” Jenny told him, implying that he follow her to a near by monitor, where a technician was working away.
He followed.

“How’re we doing?” Jenny asked the technician. “Great Ma’am, we should have it up and rolling in about 40 seconds.” Replied the technician, shaking with anticipation.

“Do we know where this probe has landed, exactly?” Walter asked. The technician turned to him. “ In a manner of speaking sir, yes. We sent the probes in with the intention of each of the 3 landing in different ecosystems. This specific one, 181210, was intended to land in what looks like the rain forest of the planet, but whether it really landed there, we cannot be sure until we have the T-Cam up and running.” He told Walter matter of factly. “I see.” Said Walter now slightly anticipating where the Probe had actually landed. “Make sure we activate the trackers, so that is we loose control, or visuals, we know where it was when the error occurred.”

“Yes sir,” He replied. “Beatrice, activate the tracking beacons.” He told the technician beside him.

Walter looked around. He wanted so badly to just go and proclaim this news to the whole world, to just let every single human being on earth know what they had just discovered. But he had a job to do, and it was a very important one.

“Sir, we have visuals!” Exclaimed the technician. Everyone in the room, became still and silent and looked towards the monitor.
There was a tiny flicker of static, a small muffled noise of the Probes tracks on the dirt, and then the monitor was filled with something that made Walters heart stop.
