my first viewing was a blast
as i left i talked a bit with friends and i was happy to have seen a movie with a meaning ( message and such, not really sure how to translate from french) i went with more firends the 24th december and feel i got hit by a truck during the movie everything changed

Personally, I didn't expect much from Avatar, not surprisingly as Titanic had way more fame than Avatar and that the latter was relatively under wraps - I had no prior knowledge until I saw the trailer.
And now.. its a global phenomenon

I remember counting the days and watching all the trailers on tv till Avatar came out in the cinemas.
Then on the day, I literally ran to the ticket booth and was bouncing in my seat with my equally excited brother by my side

I remember seeing the trailer before a showing of Star Trek or something and thinking, "Those effects look cool." So when I was off from work for a week between Christmas and New Years I went to see Avatar with a buddy, not really expecting anything. I was blown away! I was mesmerized the entire movie! I did tear up in a few spots (when Jake was accepted by the People and when Neytiri saved Jake at the end), but I managed to hold back from losing it. And I was OK on the way home. But then that night laying in bed I just couldn't stop thinking about Pandora and all that Neytiri and Jake had gone through -- I couldn't stop crying! I remember laying in bed and crying off-and-on (mostly on) for several hours. I was a mess! [It took me over a week to get over my PAD. Fortunately I found AF a few days later, and that helped me a lot. But my home is here at TOS now.]
When I went back for my second showing two days later I was a mess all through the movie! My eyes were wet most of the time. I really can't overstate how huge an effect Avatar had (and has) on me! Even now after 19 viewings I still tear up at different points in the movie. It just reminds me about what we as a race seem to have forgotten or buried under religious beliefs: that all of us are one and that everything is connected. Avatar reminds me of that, and I believe that is why it affects me so strongly even now. I can truly say that Avatar has changed my life: I started working out six days a week and really watching what I eat. I feel a lot better, I sleep better, and remembering that everything is connected helps me, too. Yes, I still get upset with things sometimes, but Avatar has given me some perspective on life and what is truly important: my family, my friends, and helping those around me. I can't thank James Cameron and the entire cast and crew of Avatar enough for their hard work and vision in bringing Avatar to all of us. THANK YOU JAMES CAMERON for having the courage to create Avatar and not compromise! I love you all. Oel ngati kameie, ma tsmukan sì ma tsmuké!

The first time... it was all too much for me to take in at once, I had to see it again the next day to take it all in.. still didn't soak it all in haha I spent that entire week having sleepless nights, getting maybe an hour or two literally of sleep, and sometimes no sleep at all... I wish I could experience it all over again

I had no big expectations when I went to the cinema the first time. I expected Avatar to be a good film, but eventually it became the most intense movie experience I ever had.
When Jake's Avatar came alife in the sciene lab, I was like "wow, the CGI is great it looks so real, the facial expression, the eyes". My emotions were dominated by the enjoyment of all that CGI power and beauty of it, until Neytiri kicked in and all the biolumiscense of the night appeared. It was so .. Magic. From that point on, my fascination was no longer focused on the technical appeal of the world, but on Neytiri. The scene where Jake gets more into the world and is being teached by Neytiri is so great, I was overwhelmed of all that beauty, the beauty of her, the beauty of Pandora, the beauty of the music, the beauty of everything. In the Imax, they took a 10 minute break after about 90 minutes. I went to the balcony leaning against the fence and I was wondering how it would be like to just jump from that balcony and fly away on my Ikran.

It wasn't until after Christmas that I even heard anything about Avatar due to the holidays. But it was almost fate it seems, during my daily browsing of the www I came across some stills with a brief synopsis of the plot and was absolutely mesmerized by it for some reason. It was like some outside force was pushing me to go see it, so two days later that's exactly what I did.
When the movie started it just was WOW, no words could describe what you were seeing. Every aspect of the film pulls you in whether it be story, characters, music, environment, cgi, or 3d. After subsequent viewings you realize that you missed details because the first time was borderline sensory overload. The rest of that night was spent silent, I barely remember the drive home because Avatar just kept replaying over and over in my mind. Even with a 2.5 hour run time it ended way to soon and you come down off this incredible high as you go back into the world. Later that week I went to see it again and became a Pandoraholic
