maybe we should have more of an out reach to find ppl that want to come and talk about avatar with ppl like us. also maybe we could have someone in charge of helping new members on the site giving them a walk tho, and giving them some one to go to if they have a problem.
bc when your new to a site and have a problem you have to post in the forums and ask then hope and wait for help. having someone with the title to help new members would save time, and keep posts like that from showing up. also i feel i will really show just how much this site really cares about ppl and wants to make sure they are able to function 100% with everyone else here ![]() *cough* puts hand up for the position if no one else wants to * cough* lol just messing but i think this is a good idea. but i will leave it open to the ppl, so what does everyone else think? good? bad? |

At the moment we aren't really getting many new members, there were 3 today
![]() ToS does not as yet appear on search engines, I don't think, so we aren't very publicised. It could be a good idea to have a welcome person but is it really necessary? These forums aren't too hard to use and once you have used them for a while you get a general idea. I'm sure others will have different opinions, however, so we will wait for mor

Hello...please allow a new user to make their first post a suggestion.
I respect each new community I join, and while I recently started over at AF, I became aware of TOS and curiosity naturally led me here. I'm a bit older than the rather youthful demographic of AF too, and while that trend may prove similar here, I have to say immediately that I like the simpler layout, and the lesser posting din. In short, there seems to be more focus. That said...my suggestion? It may be advantageous to have a new user intro sub-forum visible from the top menu...near the top too. "New Users Start Here" for example. Might be a good place for the rules threads, etc. It just seems that there's no place to say "Hey, I'm Steve from Tucson." |

Welcome Taw Makto!
In regards to the original post though, what i like about ToS is that you are free to post when you feel compelled to do so. Heck, all you could need here is stuff to read to help with your post-avatar experience. New commers should always feel welcome here, in my experience there is nothing be a hearty hello and high four from the members here. ITs a every welcoming community!

That said, there is a "Welcome!" thread, but it too seems a little under-advertised.

Interesting idea. I'll discuss it. So what do you think should go there? Maybe an introductions thread, a 'new users read this' (with rules, etc) - the IRC information thread?

Fair Question! Well, let me just thumbnail an outline. Just brainstorming a bit...
Well, perhaps this should go in Forum News, since that's what new members are...."new." New Souls Orientation Sticky: Forum Rules (Start here...) Sticky: Forum Tools and Features Sticky (?): Introduce yourself here! I don't know if it would be better to allow people to start their own intro thread or to have a single sticky for all noobs. A single thread could get long, especially when friendly welcomes are added in. |

We are probably at the growth point now where this is actually a good idea. We'll figure it out and do it soon
