Pleaseeeee, have a sence of decorum you darn money churning studios, i don't want relentless merchandise, cheapening the message, commercial recognition on a high churning out endless product line until we eventually grow tired and die, like a friend who has succumbed to a check for a million dollars, and never wants to be friends ever again.

Please don't milk this soon to be franchise, it should be an adult market, plenty of mature movie essentials such as statuettes and busts are a must, but remain high quality, the consumer deserves to see their favourite film treated with the best regards, and not milked endlessly for the sake of a profit, and therefore cooling off the heat it once had.

They've already made toys.

Once they make toys, it's too late.

Id like a good environment like game with flexible decision making, like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. That game was perfect except for it's many problems that you could just shrug off your shoulder.

The immersion, complete. The suspense, making you feel like your on the edge. The adventure, feels like new every time sort of.

A game backed by a reputable company should lead the way, and I think heavy investment should go into it. Take 'Chronicles of Riddick' as an example:

This game revolutionized the industry, in massive proportions. It influenced game developers to build their own engines. This game helped with the gears of gaming evolution. Stalker made a big dent in gaming evolution as well; showing that complete immersion can be possible in a game. The next step is to collage all of these elements together and have over-the-top sound quality on every aspect of a game. Music and sound is what makes half of the game I think; the visuals and environments are already impressive.
------
And I agree with the Colonel. I think you should expect some expertly made fan work of Avatar, you will notice that the sells of the merchandising will hit the adult market more than the kids market. Kids minds love to wander, and they sure do love to have constant adventure. They know nothing of sustaining a good relationship with their obsessions, because when your young, obsessions don't dry out so quick. Adults will make professional works, we've seen a great deal of talent and love into the fanwork of the movie already. I've never seen so much fan work, but I can assume Star Wars has much more since its been out for a decade.

Busts, models, professional sculptures, all of that will become readily available. The people who make those will see it as a gold mine and will readily offer their services. I know it! If I could make sculptures instead of art, I probably would. That's 3D dimensional, my artwork is only a paper and can only look back at me. The only bad thing about it being an adult market is the price, they will be high, but they should be worth every penny if the work had alot of love put into it.

I actually want Avatar to become like Star Wars, in the fact that it will be remembered and enjoyed for generations to come. But like Cyan said, I don't want the experience cheapened (or ruined I should say) by milking it for every last cent with merchandise, ect.

I would agree. In terms of cultural impact, I want Avatar to be every bit like Star Wars. Today you can say "Luke Skywalker" or "Darth Vader" and everyone will know who you are referring to. If Avatar makes it to this level the same could be said of "Jake Sully" or "Neytiri" years from now.

For me it's okay for now. But the thing is that Star Wars 1-2-3 aren't good, and i can say the same thing(lucas again) with indiana jones 4...and they are doing a 5...please stop ruining good movies!!! If lucas doesnt touch Avatar(like Aihwa said) we will be in peace!

Hit the nail right on the head!

Fear not. Sure, there will be toys, but the process of making the movie is so expensive I doubt we'll see degrading spinoffs soon, and with JC's attention to detail, I have a feeling he'll guard his baby a lot more energetically than George. And there really isn't that much of an opportunity for toys aside from the RDA stuff and figures. We'll see plenty of print matter though, and the spinoff novels are probably well underway. That's my opinion, anyway. But you know American society, though. Gotta have lots of STUFF!

I agree completely with those sentiments tsmukan... I have however been laughed at by many people that are in my life for saying this. But they also don't quite get Avatar like I do. They simply cannot see... Ayfo skxawng!

"They simply cannot see...." well said, in an Avatar sort of way, madman! Perhaps they don't know how many decimal places are in one billion.

Having had the pleasure of seeing the Star Wars phenomenon start first hand, I will say this: Avatar is definitely out of the chocks running far faster and far stronger. It won't need toys and other doodads to keep it popular. It's a force of nature.

Think about what's going on. I mean,

-a crap DVD/BluRay came out, only to be dwarfed later by the November release,

-it's being rereleased with extra footage in Imax again this summer,

-Cameron's over-promoting it, even mentioning Avatar's financial success in his letter to the president of Brazil as if it makes any difference,

-there are toys,

-there's a child's storybook out already,

-Cameron's writing a prequel novel,

...It's already being milked.

I hope that they don't start creating ridiculous cameo monsters and aliens like they did in SW.

I also hope they don't make the Universe too wide. I would rather quality than quantity.
