Do some of you still think about visiting the theatre for Avatar or do you rather watch it on your home system ?
I'm personally considering going another time to the theatre .

It's still playing in a theater in 3D about 40 minutes away. My mom won't drive out there just for that though.

Mine recently picked it up again (luckily) , I just don't know when to go , or if I should go at all since I'm about to get the BluRay the next days .

The theaters in the areas around me don't have it and haven't for ages. At least in this fast-paced suburban market, old stale stuff gets kicked quickly to bring in new, high-margin material.
The dollar theater down by my University had it so I saw it there, but that's it other than my three IMAX viewings. I'll stick with my DVD/BluRay. |

I'll stick with the BluRay.
I can't really see myself paying to go to the theater again. I'm one of those people don't enjoy spending money. However, I did hear something about a re-release with deleted scenes. I'll definitely pay for that.

I would prefer watching Avatar in a real theater at least once a week and perhaps the Blu-ray some time in between. A real theater experience cannot be had at most homes.

Don't get me wrong, movie theaters are pretty amazing, but I find that I can enjoy the movie more so at home. Especially with Avatar because it becomes more personal and you can see/hear things that you wouldn't have heard/saw at the theaters. I don't know if that's what you were implying in your post, but I hate when people say "Avatar at home won't be the same as the theaters".

It's just that the theater for me holds something special... its where it all began... its where I experienced the life changing movie I would never forget... so many memories that will bring tears to my eyes just thinking about it... I nearly broke down and cried when I passed a theater the other night

There are times in the theater where I found myself gazing upwards in complete awe as the camera panned upwards showing Iknimaya and the speakers played loud in the background. While it's somewhat the same at home, it is just less of an experience. Again, this is completely subjective and whether it is more enjoyable at home or at the theater really depends on the person. Sorry for not being clear about this earlier. |

All the theaters here have pulled it except for the $3.00 cinema (sticky floors
yuk!) which only shows Avatar once or twice per day. But to be honest, watching it at home is just as good IMO. It just feels like a more personal experience and it still has the same message whether it's on the big screen or my pc monitor. But I don't blame those who like it in theaters though, it's one way to re-live that amazing feeling that was experienced the first time you watched it.

If there was a cinema near me showing it in 3D, I would still be going...

I've only seen the DVD once, with my roommates because they really were into it. But so long as i can still access it in theaters, its MUCH more of an experience. (I may go see it in 3D today! Wee!)
I gotta say though, on a student budget, it gets very hard to do!
