This poem links to many a thing... I have just returned from a trip to a local country park that I have been going to since I was roughly 3 years old... a very, very sacred place for me personally and Avatar made me realise a few things that have happened in the last few years to this wonderful, beautiful place... a topic you can read here, in the General Discussion forums but I thought I should start here as, as many of you know, poetry is quite the emotional outlet for me. It is also written in conjunction with a moment I experienced. A moment so beautiful that it broke my heart.
This poem was written after a day of such very mixed emotion, from the highest of high to the very low. Hope you enjoy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- As I stood, Eye to glorious eye, Captivated, By a beauty, Undone by language... She looked right through. Through all the; Pain, Problems, Issues, Saw past the image. The model. She brushed my cheek. Gently, Caressing. Speaking in a tone, Far softer than any voice And she whispered; "I am still here, Although damaged, Bruised and bloody, With scars upon my face." And I retorted - Not with spoken word, But with body and soul. And we locked. Ensnared in the moment. Alas, the relentless, Unflinching, Onward march of time, Pulled us apart. Bonds snapping agonisingly. But just before, Our return, To our respective dimesnsions, There was enough time, To say; "I will see you again. Make no mistake." I riposte; "I know my love. I know." With this, Her crimson eye sunk, Closed shut, Clenched tight. 'Till our next meeting. An arrangement... That will be lovingly kept. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Written whilst looking at this scene; ![]() (Camera's not great, it was infinitely more beautiful than this photograph could ever portray. The Sun was huge and a deep shade of red.)
