The Catholic Church of old also "used" the Bible for their justification for burning "heretics".

These people probably cherry-pick verses like the "four corners of the earth" passages along with the "earth stands on pillars" (while totally ignoring Isaiah 40:22 from the Hebrew lexicon). They're metaphorical, and about as reliable as the sources they use for their evidence for "conspriracy" surrounding the research.

LMAO well there are people that believe that Pandora as depicted in the movie exists, other people actually believe the government does have an actual Stargate program, it just goes on and on but yeah of all the things one can believe this ranks as about the second worst, the first being the human Extinction movement.

I realized some people had been deciding recently that that they're asexual, but I hadn't realized that it was anything like that. O.o

(imo, they're cleaning up the genepool a bit for the rest of us...)

((Yes that was mean, but you have to admit...))

What I want to see is one of these blokes blasted 100 miles above the Earth and see the look on his face when he noticed that rather peculiar sphereness of the Earth.

Now, seriously...

You know, I use Occam's razor in this cases: the simplest theory is the correct one.

So, we've got: A) Flat Earth theory that has photoelectric and conspiracy theories as its main basis, says Moon and Sun are metallic discs,...
and B) Ye Olde Spherical Earth theory, with Newton's equations it's enough to be proven correct (and it's as simple as F=G*M*m/rē)

I choose B.

I came accross this flat earth society forum a few years ago. After observing and even posting a few times, I came to the conclusion that the supporting members are only there to debate. They really do get under the skins of random visitors quite often. Look at them as trolls that troll their own forums.

Heard of these idiots before. their FAQ made me lol IRL though.

Also, I noticed, absolutely no attempt to explain how things disappear on the horizon

All the 'conspiracy' bit makes me wonder if they're just trolling though...

Well, technically, if the universe is infinite, then by definition, Pandora exists somewhere, as does Earth as depicted in Stargate, etc etc.

I immediately thought of Bradbury's No Particular Night or Morning when you said that.
