I talked before about this on a Stanley's thread, so I wanted to explain it properly here.
We humans love to dream, I say, we're masters of storytelling: we are able to relate real, past or imagined events; some with such ease we could even say they are happening right now when these people are talking about them. We adore to simply go far, far away to a place where none of the things going around us are important or where the situation is simply better. In this case, Avatar has shown us a new world full of beauty and authenticity. However, when it comes to put our feet back on Earth, we usually don't like what we see; specially when we've been given a new perspective of life, we realize the way we live here has no sense. And since that very moment we have to decide:
If you go for the third option, then you're making your Path to Heaven. When I say that, I mean you're connecting in some way earth and sky (just like Iknimaya does), reality and fantasy, life and dream. Bring some of the light of that imagined place to ours, via that path. Another meaning it has, is that it's something that gives an absolute meaning to your life, to the point that you're working for it until you reach heaven. Literally. Seeking your Path to Heaven signifies also seeking your purpose in life. Going up that path is not easy; but it's the only one that's worth climbing up. And how to do it? Get into volunteering programs. Don't refuse to do a favor to anyone. Care about your relatives, ask them how they are. Love your surroundings. Go hiking. Do. Don't keep staring at this screen and reading; don't be just static, sat down on your chair. Don't just look how life goes by. Do something with it. Act. Risk. Try. Fail and stand up. You'll never know if you never try.

100% agree.
Your purpose in life isn't going to find you sitting at home on the couch. You have to get out there and go find it yourself. Doing small things to make Earth a better place is great for the soul too. I'm not so sure about other people, but for every small, kind act I do I feel closer to nature. Oddly. |

Do or do not, there is no try? (Sorry, couldn't resist!)
![]() But seriously....very seriously.... This forum is becoming a tremendous powerful positive force. Threads like this are why. What a beautiful philosophy, simply and eloquently expressed. I enjoy my dreams both waking and from my slumber. They have indeed shaped my life. Not all have been happy dreams. Avatar is a dream too, as have been many other of my favorite films. Avatar, of course, is new, and special....and in many ways perhaps the most special of all because of the core values and positive energy for self determination. In short, I find myself inspired by this, and now more than ever I believe I will find a way to do something with that inspiration. Thank you! |

Life is all about choices
Would you rather pick the blue (habbits 1) or the red (unknown reality 2/3) pill ?

I'm in the second, but I'm trying to do the third as well. I help people where I can, I contribute to several good causes, I try to reduce the impact I have on the world. It's not perfect, but if everyone did it, the world would be a much better place.
Red please.

I choose option 3. I don't want a boring repetitive life, I want to be different and actually live and appreciate life. Live on the edge and don't be a tool of society.

Interesting post. I'm not entirely sure what option I would pick though.
To kill an infidel is not murder, it is the path to Heaven. Sorry but that's the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this thread. I'm sure some of you know where that's from.

It is a quote from a movie. Not my belief/opinion at all.

Amazing post ma tsmukan! Adding to my Avatar Folder (As a side note, I don't think a lot of you know how many of your threads are in my Avatar folder because of how heartfelt and incredibly spoken they were)

As HNM said, I live in the second, but i'm trying to achieve the third.
Hopefully the path I have chosen to take in the near future will clearly show me the way.
