*Thanks for the title change.
*I have had the Blu-ray since launch date and i'm STILL waiting for a good opportunity for a viewing. I don't know if I really want to watch it without the following things, i'm not sure if it will do it justice. I really, really want to go back to Pandora, but I don't want to be distracted. I really only want to watch it when a) there is no one else in the house b) it's dark outside and everything is quiet and c) I have my surround sound set up (Which unfortunately requires me to buy a Digital Optical cable )So I was basically wondering if anyone else is still waiting for a prime opportunity for a home viewing or am I the last person to see it...?

I've watched it quite a few times. I admit, I haven't had a perfect one yet though, there's always been something on my mind, or I've been a bit tired, or something. Still been amazing, I've still been completely absorbed, but there's just something missing.

I watched the bluray once with my parents. It was probably the best experience I've had with the movie. I went to watch it again a week after that. I wasn't into it at all. I was distracted, my mind was wandering. I didn't even finish the movie because it started storming really bad and tornado sirens were sounding. I was glad I didn't finish it since I wasn't really enjoying it as much as I usually do. I guess I've never had the perfect viewing.
It's been over three weeks since I've watched Avatar. For some reason, I can't bring myself to watch it again. But, my family is going out of town in a week, so I'm going to force myself to watch it. There will be no distractions, so it should be a good experience.

I'm still waiting, too, Fkeu'itan. I've seen it twice since buying it...once with the husband, once with my mom, but neither of those really allow for the complete and total absorption into the film I really want, and timing-wise, it just hasn't been...quite right.
Like you, I'd prefer to see it at night, alone in the house, but it's unlikely to happen. I've had some time during the days I haven't been working, but it just hasn't felt right...too rushed, too many other distractions, and just too bright outside. I am very much a night person and in the dark is when I can turn inward a bit more, internalize things much more, and really just feel. I may eventually just have to compromise and see it again late at night after my husband is asleep. He likes the movie, don't get me wrong, but it's still just a movie to him. I just need to try it, I think, and hope it works how I want it to!

I have seen it twice at home. But I didn't get into it as much as I wanted, because I am never alone at home, I can't turn sound loud and all in all I couldn't focus at he movie. Souch kind of viewings only ruins the movie
. I hope that there will be some chance soon to really "See it".

Same here... Just finished my second time but all times I've been worried about one thing... Noise. For the movie to be epic beyond all... The absolute perfect home viewing, I need to
a)listen to it ad loud as I want (and as clearly) b) be alone with no one else except me (but what I would give to experience Avatar with any of you) c) be dark outside... Night to me is the best time to experience this movie d) not be tired at all e) watch it on our big screen TV in the den |

Out of four home viewings, I've managed to watch Avatar twice without any disturbances, but what I have not been able to do is watch it how I want to. To me, a perfect viewing would be watching Avatar with the speakers set at the volume I want. Unfortunately, with the volume set to what I want, it sounds like there's a train coming through the house.
Not to mention the fact that I use a projector instead of a TV. With a projector, light control is crucial, so any bright light inside the room really has a big impact on the screen image. Because of this, I have to watch movies at night. And since everyone is either sleeping or getting ready for bed at this time, I can't have the speakers very loud. |

*waves hand* I am! I haven't managed to get ahold of the DVD or Blu-Ray yet, but I'm hoping to get a copy of the DVD sometime soon (no Blu-Ray player here) -- once I get it, though, I'll still have to contend with my house's noisy hordes and other distractions. I'll have to contrive some excuse to kick everyone out of the house for three hours...
