Default Should there be more Avatar Merchendise?

In my opinon, there probebly isn't enought Avatar stuff besides a cheesy story book, an art book and gudie to pandora.

If there is a second round of avatar mrechendise, I would like the following:

-Avatar Chess
-Avatar Risk
-Avatar Monopoly

Also, a merchendise that would be outragously cool would be:

AVATAR the graphic noval. That Would be SWEEEEET!!

What merchendise would you want?

No, please.

Just like people said in the "Don't make Avatar be the next Star Wars" thread; selling more Avatar merchandise would mean that it's just a money-making money and would lose it's meaning.

I won't but anything else from Avatar apart from the DVD to watch it home.

I like the idea of a graphic novelisation...

But aside from that i'd rather not see any more Avatar merchandise. I think there's enough of it already what with all the toys and figures etc.

I love posters and the few shirts they have available (I've got two shirts and four posters, three are framed) but I think the amount of merchendice they have is fine... as for the action figures I'll maybe get the Hot Toys ones when they're available, but other than that, posters FTW, the two books are amazing, and the shirts are bomb

Personally I'd be content with only graphic novels or spin offs, but then only if JC has a direct involvement in the making process..

As for mugs, shirts etc, I find that it kinda makes it too commercialized- which was exactly what Avatar was going against..

^^^ This. Don't take more than what you need. Be careful of the trap for consumption! Some of it is okay, but not too much!

Agreed... also what I like about it too is if you want a poster or shirt, you can only find like one or two in selected stores, so it's not that advertised

Yeah. It's good enough that they want to have some Avatar-related items, but to go
too far as to add them with more stuff everyday is just sickening to me. It really
ruins what Avatar tries to represent with its overall message concerning overconsumption...

If something like this is going to happen, I would rather have James Cameron do it.

Yea, like right now I'm happy with the amount of shirts they have out, and the amount of posters but agreed its like you see an entire row of just Twilight *gag* stuff all in one isle and its like, "really? overkill" but Avatar is really showing it by being one of the most amazing movies, the highest grossing movie, ect. and having only a few merchendise

Good point... I didn't think about that...

I almost forgot that it wasn't as heavily advertised compared to the rest of the movies... I should get out more! >.< Lmao

I agree. It is better to have fewer, higher quality merchandise than a ton of crappy merchandise that just sits on the shelves collecting dust. I admit that when LOTR came out I went crazy. I bought a couple of t-shirts, swords, books, etc. I ended up getting rid of some of it. I still have the swords, etc but I will probably never go crazy like I did then. As for as Avatar. Right now all I have in my personal possession is the soundtrack and the activist's survival guide. I will buy the special edition blu-ray and maybe one or two more things but that will be about it. I think that to much merchandise cheapens the product and kiddifies it (ie. Star Wars toys, etc).

I definitely don't want to see tie-in monopoly/chess games like they did with Star Wars, LOTS, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc. They look cheap and worthless. Not only that, they can be confusing.

Repackaging existing Hot Wheels cars with an Avatar theme is over commercialization. Basically, just slapping the Avatar name in it's screen font on anything and everything to make an "Avatar Collectible" is what's crass. Good quality T-shirts are okay, crappy $2 T-shirts are not. Posters...as long as it's not the same thing over and over, no problem. What it is, to me, is merchandise with a thin movie tie-in. On the other hand, good quality toys are fine as long as they don't try to extend the universe of the film just to broaden a product line. We don't need to see T'sutey's brother warrior Alf'tey.

I would like to see some kits from Finemolds, the Japanese company that has produced outstanding scale models from Star Wars. Basically, anything RDA that flew would be fodder for my build queue. The big problem with this is that the RDA is the "BAD GUYS," and that's not as popular as modeling something from the "GOOD GUYS" side. So there's a sales risk. I would really dig a model of the Valkyrie, though. Mega cool spacecraft.

Some of you may also be familiar with Kotobukiya. These folks produce outstanding scale statues in 1/6 scale or so. I think they're already doing some busts, but I'd really like to see them produce Na'vi statues of Neytiri, Jake and Norm. I really liked Norm. His character is the closest the movie comes to my own personality, I think. The down side to these statues is that they are usually hella expensive. But you get what you pay for.
