I don't understand how someone can get so upset and do that to friends. Obviously we are missing part of the story here

It was the result of a time of disagreement between Leon and the other admins, which became increasingly worse and resulted in this burstout and leaving of the forums.

A sum of a lot of smaller things, simply put.

I have read the whole discussion, but i'd rather not say where I stand or post the whole thing, lest I hurt anyone or cause further inflammation.

How could something to do with these forums cause that though? So he didn't like post count being shown (example)... What's the big deal....

And as I said, it was all about a large number of smaller things, adding up, until it became too much, simply put.

There are a number of things, I personally, can only attest to one of them myself. (I trust that Eltu and others know of different instances of conflict as well)

Since it looks like there is still confusion and questions about this, I will give an example: the IRC bot poll.

As there were some disagreements with which bots should be in the IRC channel, we made a poll about it on the forums. However, after a while we (other admins) found out that Leon had been cheating on the poll to make sure that the option he preferred would win. This of course, made things even worse, especially considering he lied at first and said he had done no such thing - after he then admitted it.

In short, there had been numerous occasions where when he was unhappy with a majority vote/decision, did things to make things go the way he wanted. And all these events led to him eventually leaving.

^^ And it sounds like Leon is going to be better off for it. If he's lucky, he'll learn from it. It's part of the maturing process. I've felt like doing the same sort of thing in many instances in life. Of course, in those times it was my job that made me feel that way, disagreements with my superiors and situations. Fortunately, I had the need for income to keep me in the job until I cooled off. That helped me grow. Leon, of course, has closed the door and burned the bridge behind him, and for my part, I don't deserve or need the details. I just wish him well, as I do anyone else that leaves or gets banned. There is more to life than just the web, or just this one lovely forum.

Overall, whatever the details, I think this place is awesome and run exceptionally well with very little perturbation. I've been on the board several times a day for the past three (almost!) weeks, and there was only one individual that I bumped into that I thought didn't quite fit. The admin presence is robust, and the overall group extraordinarily cordial. But there will always be individuals that stand out or don't fit, and they eventually run their course and leave. Such is life.

Trust me, for the persons affected by some of the insults this evening, apologies were way too late - the damage had been done.
As much as I respected Leon - I'll be perfectly honest, I cannot forgive some things he said today. And I usually am very tolerant in such matters.
