Default Contemplative All The Time?

Does anyone else find themselves being contemplative/meditative pretty much all the time? Even when I am doing other things, I always have a side-thought going about the many philosophical issues we discuss on this forum. Like today, while driving to dinner, pretty much the whole hour drive I was meditating on human nature. Or when I'm in class, I usually have a philosophical side-thought going, Or any other time, really.

Tired rambling FTW!

We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. And we're very, very pissed off." - Tyler Durden

Yes, the past few months I have been much more contemplative/reflective to whats going on in the world around me. Unfortunately it seems the more I think like this, the more cynical I become IRL

I think I've got my mind in two different places, reality and my world. When things get bored here, I just stare at nothing and let my mind goooo... I think I spend more time there than here.

My mind state after Avatar pretty much has been altered for the good. I constantly discuss things with myself in my head, look at both sides of the picture, ask how it will benefit others or this Earth, think deeply about things.

Yes, I over-contemplate as well.

On the one hand, it allows you to appreciate what you have, see everything wonderful that surrounds you and lead yourself up to the peak of happiness. However, it can also help you discover what it is you feel your life is about, it also shows you the parts of you that are missing, damaged, broken and you can lead yourself down so far. Unfortunately, the latter is far easier to achieve.

It is much easier to fall down a slope than to climb it.

I have always been contemplative in the sense that I would ponder questions about life, the universe, faith, etc. They have helped me a lot and I do often think about what we talk about on here. Sometimes I bring up random thoughts in my head to my husband. Unfortunately, that ends up being at night, in bed, when my husband is very tired and I should be but am not and I think I end up putting him to sleep . Darn.

i am the same way.. its like Avatar opened our minds.. it opened our eyes to what the true world is out there. We now know the corruptiveness in it and the issues. we think about them all the time because we discuss them in such matter on this forum.. and we do it respectively. I do often get these side thoughts.. i always think of how i wanna be on Pandora and not here.. i often think about how much i hate society (i think i am known for that now that i talk about it all the time lol) i am surrounded by it where i live, so i talk about it alot cause it bugs me. Everywhere i go in this town, i see some form of corruptiveness due to the society.. clones i shall add.. i feel like im living in a clone village

Heh, that's exactly what James Cameron wanted with this movie. He caught you hook, line and sinker! Lol but kidding aside, I really believe that's what he truly desired out of Avatar: To bring you guys out of your mind and waking up to reality and to what's currently going on to our society and on Earth... I feel that he's been trying to prepare the rest of the world for this. It's such a timely one too since I have never seen so many people more passionate and invigorated than this forum... I am proud to say that I'm a member and a part of the Tree of Souls. *hugs everyone*

Exactly. That is what makes Avatar so special. Granted, some people already knew before Avatar that there is something terribly wrong with society and how we are treating each other and the earth but for others, it took a movie like Avatar to wake them up. The problem of course is, now that we are all awakened...what do we do now?

Well, for starters, what we are doing on TOS by encouraging one another and connecting, albeit in an electronic form helps. It is playing out one of the main themes of Avatar which is connection. It is something that so many people lack now. I believe this is also why there is more loneliness and depression. To many people's hearts have grown cold. They are self-absorbed in making money and acquiring stuff that they don't stop to connect with others. We are by nature social beings. Humans crave connection. We need each other. That is why it is a wonderful and good thing that TOS exists. It helps to bring more love into the world and in the process..I hope...makes the evil less.

My thoughts exactly... Beautiful post ma tsmuke! I couldn't have said it better...

It's the little things like this that keep me going through the so-called impossible. I can't tell you how much I appreciate and thank God everyday for this place. We are all very lucky to have each other even if it is an internet forum... I know that one day we will each meet up little by little, not knowing how much of a radical change we'll make on this world.

I see you all.

Oei Nagti Kameie.

*hugs*

Been contemplating the nature of existence for nearly 40 years. It's part of my basic nature. Then I go to work and I spend think about solutions to technical challenges. I find it nice to get paid to think. For me it beats digging ditches 40 hours a week.

I am also glad to have found this place where the members are awake to what I consider to be the true nature of our reality. A big TOS hug to you all.

I think all the time, but the more I think, the more miserable I become. So at times I try to turn off my brain to have at least some peace of mind, even though it's only a brief illusion.

I never stop thinking, but fortunately I'm not unhappy or particularly cynical as a result. I wouldn't say Avatar changed anything in that respect- it's how I've been for a long time. I find life rather interesting, even though it's relatively empty for me.

Yeah, pretty much all the time. It happens most often when I peer out my window and look onto the horizon, from then on I'll be in a calm state of mind, just thinking about what my life might be like or why or how we're here.

I remember I looked out my window and contemplated for like 3 hours. Some people may call it a waste of time but it helps me understand who I am and the world I live in.
