It is ridiculous to ridicule a fictional character in a movie that they supposedly like. Otherwise, why be on an Avatar forum. Anyway, people will have different opinions about characters.
As for as Jake. He's archetypal. He is an everyman who we can relate to and his story is beautiful. Sure, its been told before but that's fine since I liked the other stories that were similar to Avatar (Dances with Wolves, The Last Samurai). In fact, its due to the simple, timeless nature of Avatar that has its greatest appeal. There are reasons why people want to hear the same stories again but done in different ways. They are timeless stories that touch the heart and the soul. This is why I go for stories with heart. Sure, I can be brainy at times but a brainy movie doesn't touch me the way that the simpler, heartfelt movies do. Avatar is one of them  .
