Default Pandora Oceans, the secrets beneath

A thing i can think about a lot.

Which creatures will be living in the waters of Pandora's Oceans?
Sometimes my mind wanders off to dinosaur like huge creatures, other times to more yellyfishlike creatures and fishlike creatures that have the most wonderfull colours you can imagine.

it really keeps me busy

what are your ideas about the Pandora Oceanlife? It would be great if you would like to share them here.

I wondered this too, Silver Storm
There is some sort of fish that is just visible when Jake jumps into the waterfall. It is called a dichthinoid or something and is in the Activist's Survival Guide.
But in the deep blue sea, Eywa only knows what there could be. I thought perhaps that one of the next movies would explore the underwater side of Pandora a bit more, fingers crossed

There are probably some huge animals/fish there, with the low gravity

It's quite beautiful to imagine what else Cameron saw under the ocean that he will draw his inspirations from for the next movie. We saw Jellyfish pods hanging from trees, and the beautiful Atokirina. I once read a fantasy novel that had something called cloud whales and thought those would be a site to behold. I often sketch wondering what creatures he will come up with.

He will be able to create some truly graceful creatures of the water, of that I have no doubt. But the problem lies in creating a way for the Na'vi to be able to see them. Would they just go diving? Or would there be some way for them to breath for extended periods of time?

Actually when Jake was being chased by the Thantor and he jumped into the water I was expecting some big fish try to attack him... I find the mysteries in the oceans very intriguing, it's the oddest feeling to go out neck deep in the ocean in the middle of the night and let your mind wander... But I'd love to see some giant Pandora ocean life

I like to imagine, that there would be woodsprite like creatures, that act like jellyfish and provide light in the darkest swells of the oceans. There would be hostile ones, and harmonic natured ones, of all different colours and sizes. Prehaps at the bottom of the trenches, there is mermaid like na'vi, that have adapted to the conditions and are directed by the lights of woodsprite. It's nice to let your mind wander a bit, there is soo much that could be going on down there, prehaps the marines will explore down there in the sequel.

What could not be down there would be the correct answer, I mean right here on Earth we know more about Mars than we know about lies at the bottom of our own oceans.
and on that note

Just to give you an idea of what might be lurking justt on our oceans take a look at the colossal Spider crab

This is size comparison between an adult Spider crab and an average size adult human female

I hope we will see more of the oceans in the sequel..
I think the fish would be gigantic and in brilliant colours..
They would also look quite weird, maybe with mandibles, arms ect

*whips out handy dandy Survival Guide* wow, I feel so geeky

In the Avatar Survival Guide it has a picture of a Dinicthoid or "giant gargoyle fish." It's apparently very vicious (as most creatures on Pandora are haha) and has a "false face" to confuse predators. It says that scientists have watched a group of them bring down a sturmbeest, so yes...I would say they're pretty dangerous.

Me too. He jumped that waterfall and I was like "Oh sh*t. Here it comes." I was genuinely surprised when nothing happened.

and talking about that. weren\t the waters very empty? no creatures swimming in it for as far as i remember. i like the giant crabs a lot! the combination of crab and pandora tickles my imagination. i only thought about fish and jellyfish, but there are so many different possibilities!

and yeah, that fish sure sounds like a mean thingy!
