in my theater, AVATAR will be returning to 3D screens on the 22.

There's no official word on whether there will be a re-release or not, but I believe the chances of one is very likely. After all, Avatar did get cut short with AiW. And to add to that, Avatar has a huge fan base. Those fans would go back to watch the extra scenes at least once. I would be surprised if they didn't go forward with a re-release.

no new footage, just the 3D version.

the new footage comes out in the fall, AFTER it's been taken out.
it was never out, it just switched to 2D.

i read last week that here they are planning to bring back avatar 3d in summer. no extra footage.

Bad move. I already contributed my 150 dollars to the Avatar theatrical welfare project. If they want more from me they will only get it if I can see the out-taken best footage, that was chopped only because of time constraints.

I heard that the re-release was confirmed, with extra footage. Can't remember where I saw it though. I will try to find it again.

Mine has put it back in 3D
I'm waiting for next monday though, when I'm seeing it in IMAX, as I've already spent far too much on Avatar and can't afford to see it again before then
