The scene where Jake flies into the well of souls on the Toruk was one of my Favorite scenes in film. It was like the Na'vi were in deep dispare with so little hope and so much sadness. Then Jake showed up and a spark of hope was cast. Like a hand pulling the na'vi from the pit of dispare and back into the light.
As for how the clan reacted, I believe the clan was revived of its hope. But I am a little sceptical about Neytiri and Tus'tay. Sure, they would feel revived of hope, But the fact that Toruk Makto was none other than the one who thay thought was complitly one of the Sky people makes me think that they both had a little gult for rejecting and almost letting him die.

I think the first thing that went through everyone's mind was utter disbelief that a skyperson could actually be Turok Mokto. But I'm sure the clan (Neytiri especially) felt guilty for turning their back on Jake and making him into an outcast.

I'd say hope, for Neytiri it was realising he was honest and still worthy (along with a bit of awe that he's toruk makto!
), Tsutey realised Neytiri was never really meant for him and accepted Jake as his brother with respect (or so it says in avatar wikia )

I think they were just so surprised by the fact, that once it happened no matter who it was, they showed they commanded respect. From that point on, I think he truly won back the respect and hearts of Neytiri and The People.
btw, that was one of my favorite scenes

As Toruk Makto flew down to the people at the Tree of Souls, they were immediately overwhelmed with a wave of hope, determination, and happiness. They realized that once again the clans would be brought together in their time of great sorrow. Jake's insane move that his life boiled down to was enough for him to regain the people's trust, and most importantly, Neytiri's.

Think about the history of Toruk Makto as we and Jake heard it. 'It has only happened 5 times since the singing of the first songs.' Jake says 'that's a long time'... so here's what I saw....
Naytiri had lost her father, and had turned Jake away (even though they were mated for life) she and the rest of her clan had been struck deep in their hearts. All because of Jake. Their initial reaction was there is a Toruk flying in! What else could possibly happen?! Then when he dismounted... (there's another pondering here of his tsaheylu with Toruk...) and walked through the clan... they were seeing a legend walk among them. A legend that meant hope, they didn't see a dreamwalker or a Sky person, they saw Toruk Makto. His approach to the tree was focused on who was there. Mo'at was questioning his arrival and Neytiri was relieved and grateful to see Jake again. Remember that the last Toruk Makto was Neytiri's grandfather's grandfather... that means that if he had come from Mo'at's side of the family tree (hehe) it would have been her grandfather... someone she might actually have known first hand. Everyone had given up on him as a traitor, as he said. In her heart, Neytiri still loved him and hoped he would return and help them. Tsu'tey had given up on him completely, so to see him ride Toruk in and stand before them as a legend, he could not turn him away. Jake was no longer an outcast, he was one of them taking on the role of savior and rescuer.

Probable, shocked, scared, happy and a little confused. I'm sure they felt a lot of respect for him and knew they were going to be alright.

I think at first, they probably couldn't believe it, maybe they felt a bit annoyed at how this sky person had done it, but then they realised just how completely Na'vi he had come, how much he obviously cared for Pandora and the Na'vi.

Their first reaction was fear and shock then respect. I think there was a certain measure of incredulity since Jake had only been with them little over 3 months and he was a sky person. However, Toruk is also a symbol of hope. That is what they were praying for and then he comes. Combine that with his speech and it gave them a new sense of determination. Its one of the best scenes in the movie

Probably they felt like "no alien could ever be a Toruk Makto !", regardless the fact that Jake becomes one with the People through many efforts. But then they've opened their eyes and tried to accept the reality, yes, Jakesully is Toruk Makto. Anyways, that scene gave me goosebumps too, and made me return my thoughts to what Jake said when he landed on Pandora : "I told myself I can pass any test a man can pass".

Quote:
A hidden element for why this movie was upstages the rest. When a person is shut off from all sides, but still chooses to help makes unexpected events occur. With their thoughts, utter disbelief and confusion would be my say. Their glad Toruk has come, but is the true measure of Jake's strength matched to the believed strength of the last Toruk Makto? This is probably a thought lingering in Tsy'tey's mind since he's the one whose closed to whats different.
