Default Our connection with Avatar

What I'm about to say is going to sound wacky to most people... except for us.

I was thinking about the perfect choices in the movie, and some of the ways it improved on the written script, but also the sheer perfection of the whole movie. I know that Cameron made another movie that long that was great, but it didn't spark new movements or change people's lives like Avatar. So what happened here?

It seems to me that the process of making the movie itself resulted in the changes that elevated it to where it is. The script is good, but it makes conventional choices; whereas the movie went beyond those into a new realm of perfection. And it occurred to me that this was really more than could be attributed to one man, or even your usual film ensemble. Avatar really has the feel of something that was touched by spirit.

Most of us have had those times when we felt the presence of something greater than ourselves. When you're lost in the flow of creating a work of art. Sometimes I have it with writing. Whatever we're accessing, it has vast energy and wisdom. It strikes me that Avatar was created with the influence of that universal spirit, something bigger than Cameron, bigger even perhaps than the sum of all the people working on it.

If there is such a thing as a connection between all living things, an invisible link between us at the subconscious level, then perhaps those of us who are drawn to Avatar were in some way co-creators, that we are connected with the universal spirit that the makers of this movie were awake and aware enough to open up to. Not to detract from the contribution of Cameron and the movie makers in any way; I simply suggest that they were present enough with their own connection to the universe that they tapped into the same power that has come alive in us, and we are also a part of this movie.

Something about this wacky idea just feels right.

Never really thought about it, but who knows, maybe

It certainly is an interesting concept, i figure that so many people wanted some sort of release it eventually came together into Avatar.

We helped Cameron and we didn't even know it.

It does feel strangely right, and the implications are vast. The universe works in strange, wonderful ways, ma tsmukan.

I agree with Devourment, I always thought of it as a kind of answer to the problems our society is having, kinda like a dreamed solution (assuming you were Jake of course)

I understand the feeling you talk about when creating something great. It is possible that it could of happened with Avatar, let us hope that JC accesses it again with the Avatar sequel. And maybe we will have more to contribute.

I really haven't felt that... yet I still have the real connection, I think Avatar was just VERY well written in that way, JC knew exactly what he was doing and how to get into people's minds.

This looks like a great read, but I'm so exhausted I can't think straight... I'll read it tomorrow

I would tend to agree with you in that the movie came together as more than the sum of its parts, and I would also agree that it's largely due to the passion of everybody working on it.

When you're working with a band, and writing a song- collaborated material always turns out much better than an entire song written by one person, in my experience. The same goes for other forms of art, such as Avatar, as long as everyone's heart is in it.

I'm also glad some of the changes were made to the script, as I couldn't imagine Avatar being different in any way!
