I was just thinking, the Earth has a pretty strict way in which the sea behaves. The moon has some pull on the sea, and probably other minor forces (the Sun, and maybe where the sea is in relation to the point on Earth like near the equator). How would Pandora's oceans be affected by it's position? Such as Pandora is a moon rather than a planet so it closely rotates around the gas giant, as well as the other moons and dual suns surrounding it. Would there be tides like there is on Earth? Would the different gravity also have an affect?
Any thoughts?

It probably does have tides because of the gas giant being so big and so close. I would almost guess that creatures on the side facing Polyphemus would be a little lighter than those on the other because if Polyphemus is as big as Jupiter which has around 254% of Earths gravity and Pandora has much less, maybe the gas giant could have an affect on more than just the oceans.

Polyphemus is infact an up-side-sown, purple jupiter. If you look closely, and the tides would be enormous, the gravitational pull on the oceans would be significant, probably like our oceans, but magnified x100

So if Polyphemus has an affect like the moon does on Earth, the tidal changes would be pretty dramatic. Does Pandora rotate? That also affects the tides, and if it is locked in rotation (like our moon always faces us with the same side) that would mean the ocean would be deeper at the side facing Polyphemus since there would be a bulging affect.

no, i think it has a regular rotation, yet everything on Pandora is bigger than on earth, so i figure the oceans would be very deep

The stronger gravity of Polyphemus would mean deeper oceans, as people have mentioned. The other moons wouldn't have much of an effect in comparison.

Yes, there can still be gravitational forces on an object, but AFAIK, it wouldn't work being that close to Polyphemus based on it's mass. Maybe I'm wrong there though, it has been 3 years since I did any physics and I've forgotten a bit there.

Binary star system may also have an affect on Pandora's orbital location.

So their gravitational shadows are always in motion and overlap. As I said, that may have an effect on Pandora's orbital position...

hope this diagram helps, remember that while pandora orbits Polyphemus, Polyphemmus orbits Alpha Centuri A

I think the sun does not have a significant influence due its distance as dont the other moons. They would be only secondary fluctuations. The major influence would be the gas giant, especially as Pandora rotates by itself. The fact that Pandora rotates makes it clear though that it is not too close to the planet, so the gravitational pull cannot be that hard and the tides not too big. If the pull would be large, Pandora would evenutally be locked (as Earths Moon).
