I'll be trying to adapt several styles that various people wear in the movie, the latest capture is Trudy's armband. Her scenes are so quick it was hard to get the one frame. I was pointed to a free program and voila! Screen captures.
and the other shot, which is actually just after she strafes Quaritch's ship:
That shows the other armband which looks much easier but on closer examination it looks like there's feathers or something dangling from it.
I thought it was cool that her big armband kind of echoes the rotors on her ship. Coincidence? I think not.
Would love to see that armband close up and in person just to study it.

Everyone knows that Mo'at has that fantastic red drape, but if you do jewelry like me, that is an incredible piece of work! Hundreds of strands of seed beads strung together. If that was an actual construct, I want to see it! She also has some ear or hair ornaments of feathers. It would be interesting to find out who gave them to her.


And there's another female when Jake arrives at the tree that just stood out because of her necklace drape:


Character-wise, I wonder if she's got very high standing? I looked at a lot of the crowd scenes, there seems to be a direct correlation between the amount of jewelry that someone is wearing and their standing in the clan. I think. The two women that are with Neytiri while they're singing don't seem to have as much as she does, but she's also the clan leaders daughter. Going to have to see if the ASG says anything about it.
But those necklace drapes are incredible work!
I noticed looking closely that it is stitched together on the shoulders and must have a reinforcement band underneath, not to mention some sort of fabric base. The band going down the front could be woven or it almost looks like the spine of an animal. Nah.... ?
Oh and her white cape is one giant leaf skeleton, whoa.

I actually also make jewelry =] And Mo'ats necklace is a piece of art! Must have taken weeks. All those little seed beads o.o...

Looking at jewelry again.. hehehe I noticed that Jake and Neytiri have similar feathered armbands during the war scenes on their left arm. In the shot above you can see Trudy has something similar. Braided simple band with feather dangles. I wonder if that's a 'warbadge' or a clan thing, going to have to check other Na'vi in the war shots and see.
I'm currently searching for sources in my area for exotic looking feathers. Not as easy as it would seem. (I also have some new things listed on my site. I'm surprised that no one wants to buy the Neytiri necklace!)

The Knot Spot

Jake stuff is a little more involved, the necklace for one thing is... intricate believe it or not. Armbands, not an issue. I can do a similar design obviously not exact so you can wear Na'vi style jewelry as a clan member.
Finding the feathers is more difficult than I thought. Went to a craft store and a sporting goods and came up with zero. Dang, forgot to buy the book I needed..oh well that's what the internet is for right?
