Default Why Is It Toruk Makto And Not Maktoyu?

I mean, the way to make a doer of a verb is to attach a -yu, am I right?
Isn't it now Toruk ride?

It's a name, not a grammatical term.

It's a good question. I'll try to post a question at learnnavi about this. It should be Maktoyu...

Oel Toruk makto lu - I'm a toruk rider (I'm riding it)

I guess it's about the definition of -yu.
-yu might only mark profession. Since riding a Toruk is a unique thing... When you ride it you're not a "pro Toruk driver which does that very often".

Toruk Maktoyu - A guy that rides a Toruk often
Toruk Taron - This might be a definition of an epic Toruk hunter
Toruk Taronyu - A guy that often hunts Toruks

So basicaly (I think) -yu doesn't have a simple definition.
Just because you eat cheese, in Na'vi it doesn't mean you're a cheese eater (a state of action: you eat cheese != you're a cheese eater).
If you eat cheese a lot, as in often, regulary, or whatever... you might then call yourself a cheese eater.

Congratulations for a good question, lol
