Let me add a comment I found...

"I was in my teens when all this happened. It seemed a whole generation stood up and said 'No More!'. Heady times and we had so much optimism for the future.

These days I look at vids on Iraq, Afghanistan, 911 and all I see is young people spewing hatred and ignorance. 55,000 Americans, maybe 1,500,000 Vietnamese died in that senseless war and the lesson forgotten.

Oh God, what a waste."

War is such a senseless waste, especially over ideologies...

War is an inseparable part of human nature, as we are and have always been a violent species. Nowadays war is just an extension of politics, because when problems can't be solved with words, they can always be solved with violence.

Then again violence isn't any kind of solution in the first place, it's not there to solve the problems, it just simply makes them disappear.
