Default Phoenix (AZ) Comicon: Memorial Day Weekend!

I just read about this over on AF.

Phoenix Comicon

There will be Avatar related panels, including speaking Na'vi.

I suspect a lot of us would be up for this but for the issues of distance and timing.

I'm planning on going at least part of the time...too early to know exactly what I'll be attending, there's so much that looks enticing. This event has been building for some time, I just found out about it today. The list of sci-fi guests is eye-watering.

Is anyone else here going?

It's times like these where living thousands of miles away really pisses me off!

OH MAN!! I would go check this out, but I think it may be a little too short notice >.< . My dad lives in Globe, AZ and I had plans to visit him sometime this Summer. Unfortunately, this Con is too short-notice for me to go . If you're going, hope its epic!

Kaltxì ma ayeylan. Oe syaw fko Meuia te Sätìng Tstew'itan ta LearnNa'vi.org. I noticed that you where interested in the LearnNa'vi panel I and ExLibrisMortis planned for the comicon. About that, I'm sorry that some of you couldn't made it to the convention and for you all, we managed to record part of it.

For update about the subject, check this link: Phoenix ComiCon Panel This is where the video will be posted as well as links to hundred of pictures we took during the event.

Does anyone think that Avatar being such a big draw at these Comicon conventions makes the film seem irrelevant to Oscar voters? I realize probably no one here cares, but considering that Academy voters seemd to put Avatar in the same category as Star Trek and Cartoons, I just feel this solidifies their (meaning Academy voters) contempt of the film.

Re: video interruption.
She's a butthead and doesn't have the sense of humor god gave chimpanzees. And as for 'parody' and 'satire' what the heck is all the amateur Star Wars films about? If it weren't for that being in Arizona.... nothing would have come of them filming that.
Hope you guys had fun!
I missed the big Avatar panel last year and kind of regret it. I gave up on Comicon here in S.D. because it's getting too big and expensive (no money to spend on goodies!).

I want to MARCon here in Columbus, and for an Avatar buff, it was a huge bust; only ONE person who dressed like a Na'vi, and the one panel discussion was essentially the 3 moderators saying about a minute of boring blather each, then throwing it to the crowd.
