I think that some of the problems is that people on both sides refuse to actually talk to each other in a civilized manner. Each side demonizes the other one, call them names, and yells at them to shut up. One can't have a decent discussion about the issues when people act this way. Everytime I see left/right pundits on tv, all they do is yell at each other. There isn't any real debate or discussion. I think this might have to do with emotion. Instead of presenting their argument in an understandable way, they insult the other side and get louder until their opponent shuts up. I've seen it to often and I am very tired of it.
The truth is that most people are a little of both. Sure, you have some that are hard left or hard right but most people are in the middle. They take a variety of positions. Most problems don't have a black/white solution. It takes both sides working together to solve some of them. However, people have become so entrenched in their own little holes that they refuse to actually understand the other side. This is as a result of an increase in coldness and hate. Again, where is the love, the respect, and honor? Why do we think the worst of someone immediately instead of just listening to what they have to say and weigh everything carefully? I think that we can have less problems with hating one another if people would just take the time to listen.
