Well that's rather foolish.
That was a direct line of 'modernizing' a story, the same for West Side Story being a 'modern' version of Romeo and Juliet. Those have a direct connection. 'Back engineering' is trying to fit a modern story into a possible source plot. Doesn't always work. Anyway. Not the point of this thread, but there ya go.
