This is really quite simple. I just wanted some study tips to be discussed and shared. I am stepping up my study routine significantly from now to years end in an effort to claim top of biology this year. I can study effectively now, to an extent anyway, but there is always room for improvements. So fire away please.
So how do you study? Is it effective?

during the semester I attend all lectures, write down notes and anything i miss (because while i'm writing the slide gets changed) i finish writing by getting the notes of the faculty web page. in my free time i go to the library and read my textbooks like they are novels, one chapter after another. I do all the home work and try to do it ASAP so i dont fall behind.
during exam time, i go to the library and study so i'm not distracted by anything at home. I re write all my notes. i highlight keywords and write their definitions, i put a highlighted box around equations and anything that the lecturer said is going to be in the exam, i put a star * next to it. until the exam, i just read over the notes and try to memorize as much as i can

Quick overview of my study methods:
Take notes but only for the main points of the lecture (I usually have my laptop with me which gives the ability to record audio) I find that if you try to write everything down you end up missing more information as it's hard to keep up with the person giving lecture. And don't wait more than 48 hours to review the information, go over it while everything is still fresh in your mind. For me, any distractions such as TV or internet will prevent any work from getting done I usually study for 45 minutes at a time with a break in-between so I don't get burned out. Seems to work ok for me.

I haven't had to study in years .. but I did hear an interesting 'tip' on the radio not so long ago, that exercising for 15 minutes before studying greatly improves the ability of memory to retain what its studying. Just thought I'd pass that along ..

I usually listen to music when I study to block out distacting noises around me. I've heard chewing gum helps blood flow in the brain so I tend to chew gum hoping it would help me XD. I take lots and lots of notes because I'm really forgetfull and I just review it and quiz myself over the material.
