Well... you saw that there were arrows sticking into the explosive pallets, right? It's all unshielded, they weren't designed for military use. And Tsu'tey got really close to those explosives.

As per Pandorapedia, the Na'vi have fire arrows, so with just a little warning from someone who knew about explosives and Quaritch's battle plan, the natives could have brought down the alien ship with their own weapons.

Really, Jake is only there to give us First World oppressors a psychological entry into the Native world. His character holds out hope that we can change.
